Chris Sails Says He Wasn’t Invited to CJ’s Graduation

Chris Sails addressed online questions about why he wasn’t at CJ’s elementary school graduation, saying he wasn’t invited and explaining how he learned about the day after asking to get CJ for the summer. The exchange reopened debate about his co-parenting wit

Clips of Chris Sails answering questions about his absence from CJ’s elementary school graduation started moving across social media on Friday—and within minutes, the conversation turned into another round of co-parenting scrutiny.

In a video responding to supporters during a live session, Chris said he wasn’t invited to the ceremony. He also acknowledged that his past choices may have played a role in why he wasn’t extended an invitation.

“I know I made it harder on myself, so I don’t blame them over there for not inviting me; I don’t think it’s their fault,” Chris said.

He then addressed why he didn’t find out sooner. When a viewer suggested he could have made time to attend once he learned about the graduation. Chris appeared to agree with the idea that he should have handled it better. Another commenter accused him of lying and claimed he knew about the graduation beforehand. Chris responded sharply.

“I didn’t lie n****, I just corrected myself. Shut yo goofy a** up,” he said. “They didn’t tell me that he had a graduation. I had asked them when I could get my son for the summertime. She said anytime after this time because he’s graduating. So that’s how I found out. It wasn’t an invitation-type of find out.”.

Chris said he still feels he should have been invited. even if he doesn’t blame Queen Naija and Clarence NYC for not extending one. He added that he does not want anyone to feel uncomfortable. and he said he plans to speak with CJ about what happened—asking how CJ feels about the graduation and Chris’s absence.

The elementary graduation isn’t the first time Chris and Queen Naija have faced public questions about CJ’s school milestones. In 2021, Chris previously explained that he missed CJ’s kindergarten graduation after saying he didn’t receive an invitation and didn’t even know CJ was graduating that day.

“I didn’t get an invitation. And also didn’t even know he was graduating today. That’s messed up,” he said at the time.

When Chris’s comments circulated, Queen Naija responded. She said Chris was dealing with legal matters at the time. that their co-parenting relationship was strained. and that she was also caring for a sick two-year-old during that period. The situation sparked debate online. with Queen Naija’s younger sister Tina joining the conversation and saying she was upset about not receiving an invitation.

As the new clips resurfaced, people poured into The Shade Room Teens’ comment section with mixed reactions. Some argued Queen Naija and Clarence should have invited Chris, while others said it wasn’t the mom’s responsibility. Several commenters pointed to Chris’s own role in staying up to date and asked why he didn’t call or get information directly.

Instagram user @thasweetest1_ wrote, “Mann if u involved in your child’s like you’d know. Simple as that.. he musta thought Cj was in 3rd grade or sum 😂🫠”

Instagram user @september22ndd_wrote said, “You’re the dad, call the school and get the information. CJ is also old enough to communicate these things. These are excuses.”

Others took a harsher tone toward Chris. Instagram user @anti_social1926 wrote. “Queen and Clarence are definitely wrong af idc.” Instagram user @aaliyahebaby added. “Naw Queen wrong for that.. He should know everything that boy has going on in school and should have been able to be at the graduation..could sit on another side of the room or matter fact that man could have kept his butt at him.”.

Not everyone bought Chris’s explanation, either. Instagram user @theregoesfefe joked. “cj gon graduate high school and chris gon be tb how he didn’t get a invite again see yall in 2033 😭” Meanwhile. Instagram user @gothamlibra framed it differently. pointing to Chris’s account of how he learned about the graduation.

“For all the ones who saying she should have told him HE SAID HE ASKED ABOUT GETTING CJ FOR SUMMER AND SHE TOLD HIM AFTER “HIS GRADUATION” he knew and didn’t want to go. He let the ball slip. He acknowledged it and hopefully he’s at the next one. Yall be slow and intentionally missing information just to have dense opinions.”.

The argument also split along the familiar lines of what each parent “must” do. Instagram user @ishanilatrice.m wrote, “Yall find any way to blame the mom ….. he know what grade he in and talks to his son … im not obligated to make sure a dad is being a dad regardless of being in different states wtf?!”.

And others pushed back on the idea that the debate should only focus on who sent invites. Instagram user @yellow_tatted wrote. “You know everybody business but your own 😭” while Instagram user @gyt.jas said. “Watching Chris on TikTok I can say he’s matured a lot since that last situation they was in. I feel like they should’ve at least sent the invite.”.

The story reopened the same pressure points—invites. communication. and who’s responsible for making sure a child’s big moments are shared. For now. Chris is clear about what he says he wanted from the start: he says he wasn’t told directly about the graduation. he learned about it only after asking about summer time with CJ. and he plans to talk with his son about how it all felt.

  1. Elementary graduation is like… the easiest thing to plan around? But idk maybe they just hate him. The whole “I found out after asking for summer” sounds kinda convenient though.

  2. He says he didn’t lie and “corrected himself” but then he’s also like yeah my past choices made it harder, so… which is it? Also that “Shut yo goofy a** up” clip is messy, like grow up. I can’t tell if he’s the victim or just making excuses.

  3. The fact he said he learned after asking when he could get CJ for the summer… that’s not really an invitation, that’s just scheduling. But also if he knew CJ was graduating, he could’ve shown up anyway? Elementary school might not even let random people in without tickets? Idk people are acting like a whole court case, meanwhile it’s a school ceremony.
