Harrison Ford remembers the exact words because they were impossible to forget.
In a recent roundtable interview with The Hollywood Reporter. the Star Wars and Indiana Jones actor was asked about the “wildest thing” a fan had ever said to him. and he didn’t hesitate. Ford recalled a moment at an airport when someone declared. “‘My mother wants to sleep with you’ — loudly announced in an airport.”.
The table broke into jokes as Glen Powell chimed in, pretending he was the one to blame. “I didn’t mean it, by the way. It was the first time I was meeting you,” Powell joked, and Ford quickly played along—telling him, “I know. And your mom didn’t mean it, either.”
After the laughs, Ford shifted to a more revealing point about the way fans approach him. He said he cannot tell the difference between a Shrinking, Indiana Jones, and Star Wars fan when they come up to him.
Riz Ahmed reacted immediately, asking if Ford doesn’t notice what he sees out there. “Do you not find the Star Wars fans are running around with massive Star Wars posters? Because that’s what I find,” Ahmed said.
Ford’s answer was blunt. “Those are not fans. Those are autograph sellers 100 percent of the time.”
In Ford’s telling, the approach matters more than the franchise. “When people come up to me, I’m not trying to figure out what they’re coming for. I just know that they’re likely to be a customer and I’m in a service occupation. We sell stories.”
That language—calling fans “customers”—isn’t new for him. When Ford appeared at the Star Wars: The Force Awakens panel at San Diego Comic Con in July 2015. he thanked his “customers” and explained why he prefers the term. “In my mind. I convert fans — and let’s be careful about how we take this word — into customers. because I know full well that those are the people that are supporting my life and supporting the film industry and the kind of movies that I like to make. ” he said at the time.
Ford added then that he is “very gratified to have them as customers.” He also connected it to his own background. saying. “I grew up working in stores. working in the stationery store. working in the flower shop. working as a waiter. working in various capacities. and I have respect for my customers. So that’s maybe a distinction that’s not immediately apparent to people.”.

Airport confession aside, the whole thing about not being able to tell the difference between franchises sounds fake to me. Star Wars people have like… lightsabers or something lol. But sure, “autograph sellers 100 percent” like he’s the gatekeeper of fandom.
