Haliburton feels great again as Pacers rebuild

Haliburton feels – Tyrese Haliburton says he’s feeling healthy again after an Achilles tear and a shingles battle, giving Indiana Pacers fans a boost while the franchise prepares for its 2026-27 turnaround.

Tyrese Haliburton walked into the Simple Truth Basketball ProCamp and, for the first time in a long stretch, didn’t sound like a player still living on the margins of his own body.

Speaking to local reporters during the camp. the Indiana Pacers star said he is “feeling healthy again” after suffering a torn Achilles in Game 7 of last year’s NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He also referenced a recent bout with shingles that caused noticeable swelling in his face. a problem that visibly lingered before he moved past it.

In a video shared on Saturday by Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files via X. Haliburton framed the moment as relief made physical. “I feel great. You see I have eyebrows now so thankful for that. I looked back at videos of me and I can see how swollen my face is and I’m just glad that’s past me now. I feel great. Body feels great. I’m able to do everything. I feel like I’m operating like I’m a healthy NBA player.”.

Later in the same clip, he added: “I feel great. Body feels great. I’m able to do everything. I feel like I’m operating like I’m a healthy NBA player — for the first time in a long time, which is exciting.”

For Indiana, that word—exciting—lands with extra weight. Haliburton. 25. helped lead the Pacers to the NBA Finals for the first time in 25 years. only for their run to be derailed when he suffered the devastating Achilles injury early in Game 7. Indiana ultimately lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder in seven games. During the recovery. he also dealt with shingles. temporarily sidelining parts of his rehabilitation before he recently returned to full activity.

His comments at the camp weren’t only about health returning. He described how meaningful it was to be able to participate without constant restriction or follow-up questions from the organization. “The fact that I’m able to come here without having to answer questions from the organization or anybody about my health… I’m just able to jump in and do the things with the kids. That means the world to me, it’s something I don’t take for granted after the last 12 months. So, very thankful to be here and have a lot of fun.”.

That sense of being back in motion comes as the Pacers try to reclaim lost ground. Without their All-Star point guard, Indiana went through a dramatic regression, finishing the 2025-26 season 19–63 and the No. 14 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Indiana’s offseason direction has already started to take shape, too. The franchise will look to build around a healthier roster heading into the 2026–27 campaign after acquiring center Ivica Zubac at the trade deadline. Haliburton’s latest update doesn’t erase the damage of what happened last postseason. but it does change the tone around what comes next—one camp rep at a time. with his body finally cooperating.

  1. Okay but Achilles tears aren’t just like, “oops I’m fine now.” Hope he actually healed right. Also the eyebrows thing is kinda funny but I’m just glad he’s better.

  2. “Turnaround 2026-27” like that’s gonna fix everything. Pacers been saying they’re rebuilding forever. If he’s feeling great cool, but I swear I remember him looking healthy last year too and then boom injury.

  3. Achilles in the Finals and shingles right after?? That sounds like he needs to retire and just rest, not do camps. I saw that video floating around and I thought the eyebrows were like some new makeup trend or something. But then again swelling in his face… yeah that’s not normal. Either way I’m rooting for him I guess, just don’t rush the return or it’ll bite them again.
