Graham Platner Scandals Swell as Strategist Evades Questions

A Maine Democratic Senate candidate’s growing scandal pile became a testy moment on MS NOW when strategist Morris Katz struggled to answer questions about additional accusations facing Graham Platner. Co-host Elise Jordan laughed at the evasiveness, while Katz

Sunday night, on MS NOW’s The Weekend: Primetime, the conversation didn’t stay tidy.

It started with a pointed question aimed at Morris Katz. a top strategist for Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner. as the show addressed the flood of “unflattering” accusations swirling around the liberal politician. Co-host Elise Jordan pressed him on whether more women could come forward with similar allegations.

“Can you say that there are not going to be more women with similar, unflattering accusations against Graham Platner?” Jordan asked Katz.

Katz tried to sidestep the question. “What I can say is Graham Platner has addressed his past repeatedly — more than I’ve ever seen any candidate have to talk about their past-,” he said.

Jordan cut in immediately, laughing as she challenged the tactic. “Because he has a lot of problems, Morris!” she fired back. The panel chuckled, and Katz continued, shifting to what he described as Platner’s openness about his past.

Katz said Platner has been talking “very honestly and openly about not being the world’s greatest boyfriend when he got home from war.” He also argued Platner had issues with alcohol and that he could go down “dark rabbit holes” on the internet.

But when Jordan returned to the central pressure point—whether Platner can ever reach a line that would matter enough to rule himself out—Katz again leaned away. The exchange turned sharp as Jordan described the media-and-opponents dynamic around the candidate, saying it keeps generating new material.

“It just keeps coming and coming and coming,” Jordan said after Katz pivoted to complaints about the “frenzy” around Platner and how opponents were fixated on digging up dirt.

Katz then danced around what it would take for Platner to disqualify himself from serving in Congress.

The interview aired against a campaign already defined by controversy. Platner infamously had a Nazi tattoo on his chest, which he later removed and denied knowing was tied to Nazi Germany. A former girlfriend later contested his account and told The New York Times that he knew exactly what it was.

The campaign has also faced other unsavory headlines, including an admission that Platner sexted a number of women who were not his wife. He responded by ripping the “establishment media” for trying to tear apart his marriage.

In addition, Platner praised Nazi-allied soldiers in now-deleted Reddit posts. He was also accused of abusive behavior by ex-girlfriends in the same New York Times report. Platner denied those accusations.

Despite the baggage, Platner won the Maine Democratic primary last month. He is set to face Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) in this November’s general election.
