Gov. Lawal Urges Strategic Action for Nigeria’s Security Challenges

Governor Dauda Lawal has challenged the Air War Course 12 participants to turn their study tour insights into real-world security improvements for Nigeria.

Governor Dauda Lawal has challenged the participants of Air War Course 12 to transform their academic study tour of Zamfara into tangible, practical solutions for Nigeria’s security challenges.

The governor, represented by Secretary to the State Government Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, hosted the delegation led by Commandant Air Vice Marshal G.A.. Mbaka in Gusau this week.. He emphasized that the region remains a vital front in the ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability to the North-West.

This call to action highlights how vital military-civilian collaboration is for regional stability, as academic research must now evolve into field-tested defense strategies to be truly effective against evolving threats.

During the meeting, the governor highlighted Zamfara as a critical theatre of operations. He noted that the visit provides an essential framework for future officers to understand the deep, inseparable link between maintaining a secure environment and fostering long-term state development.

Participants of the Air War Course were encouraged to look past theoretical study and focus on actionable outcomes. By translating their findings into the national security architecture, the military can better address the complex realities faced on the ground.

Meanwhile, the delegation’s tour, which concluded on May 1, examined the specific roles of air power and state-led resource management in combating insecurity.. Commandant Mbaka praised the current administration for its proactive stance, particularly citing investments in infrastructure, the education sector, and the implementation of the Community Protection Guards.

These initiatives are seen as essential building blocks for a more resilient state. By integrating local protection strategies with broader national military oversight, the state aims to create a more robust defense mechanism against criminal elements.

Ultimately, the success of such high-level training programs hinges on the ability of participants to synthesize regional intelligence with national policy.. When military expertise aligns with local administrative priorities, the result is a more cohesive and responsive security apparatus for the entire country.

This shift toward practical application is significant because it shifts the focus from abstract military theory to localized, community-integrated solutions that are more likely to yield long-term success in volatile regions.
