Wilder is already following in his famous family’s footsteps, having made his feature film acting debut in 2025, starring in the Netflix holiday rom-com A Merry Little Ex-Mas, alongside his dad. Wilder played Gabriel, the onscreen son of Oliver’s character Everett.
Wilder’s proud dad opened up about working with his oldest son in an interview with People in 2025, admitting that everyone in their family “wants to be an actor.” Wilder’s character delivers an emotional monologue at the end of the film, which brought his dad to tears.

“He was really nervous about it, because it was a big speech,” Oliver recalled. “I’m sitting there listening in the movie, and after his first take, I, for the first time, just started crying.” “Because I couldn’t believe that this was my son,” he gushed.
“I stepped out of myself a little bit, and I’m like, ‘This is my son who is doing great and who has never done this before. He’s just going head first into the fire, and he’s in my world now, and I’m just so proud of him.’ I just swelled with this pride that I’d never felt before, and it was just overwhelming and it made me emotional.”

The film allowed Oliver and Wilder to enjoy some proper bonding time before the teen’s upcoming college move, as they stayed in Toronto for six weeks while filming. More recently, the family also enjoyed a trip to Europe with Goldie and Kurt Russell, as well as Oliver’s siblings, Kate Hudson, Boston Russell and Wyatt Russell, and their partners and children.
The special trip included spending time in Greece – the family’s favorite place – as well as Prague, where Wyatt marked his 40th birthday.
