New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith found himself under police scrutiny after a woman accused him of abuse and neglect involving his “special needs” child—preferring video games instead, she claimed.
The allegations surfaced in a since-deleted Instagram video posted Sunday, June 21, by a woman named Kristen. In the clip. Kristen claimed Smith beat her. saying in her caption: “Today is the DAY!” “GENO SMITH beat my ass cause he HATES taking care of his special needs kid and can’t be left alone with him because he’d rather watch s*x online and play Call of Duty.”.
Police reportedly investigated the claims made against Smith, 35, over the weekend. No charges were filed, and the case is no longer open, NFL reporter Andy Slater said on Monday, June 22.
The video Kristen posted included a scene where a shirtless Smith can be seen talking on the phone in the garage of his home. Kristen—who she said is not the mother of Smith’s 7-year-old son, Seven—berates him. Smith is heard telling her, “Leave my neighborhood!”
In a separate video from the same incident, Kristen alleged Smith tried to get into her car while she confronted him. “Throwing my purses out and stealing my money out my car with his high deranged ass,” she captioned that footage.
Another clip showed Smith getting questioned by police outside his house. Kristen also wrote online: “Been supportive of this DEMON and his narcissistic personality disorder ALL MY DAMN LIFE!!!!!!!!”
Smith’s football path adds another layer of context to the moment: he was traded to the Jets in March after spending last season with the Las Vegas Raiders and the previous five with the Seattle Seahawks. Us Weekly has reached out to the Jets for comment.
The pushback came from the mother of Smith’s son. In an Instagram Story posted Sunday. June 21. she defended Smith. writing alongside a photo of the quarterback holding Seven: “Geno is and always has been more than capable of taking care of his son.” She added. “Let’s kill that narrative. Don’t get on the internet bringing my son into your web of dysfunction.”.
On social media, the son’s mother also used the name Ken. In a separate post, Ken said Kristen has been “absolutely obsessed with me and my child,” adding, “Has been for a long time,” and that she’s gone to “every length to not be contacted by her or have my son around her.”
Ken also insisted Smith “isn’t the problem,” writing: “We get along fine without this lady. She creates drama, just as she’s doing now. My son is FINE with his father.”
The accusations have now run into a hard legal boundary: police reportedly investigated over the weekend, no charges were filed, and the case is no longer open—leaving the public dispute shifted to the one place it started, where Kristen’s allegations and Ken’s rebuttals continue to collide.

Police closed it so everyone needs to chill.
I saw the headline and immediately thought this is another “celebrity scandal” thing. But how do you even get into someone’s car and stealing money and then no charges? Seems kinda messy. Also the “special needs kid” part is just… wow.
Isn’t it wild they’re saying he’d rather play Call of Duty than take care of his kid? Like okay sure he’s a pro athlete but people act like he’s just a couch goblin lol. And “watch s*x online” from a deleted IG video doesn’t automatically mean anything either. Police not filing charges means at least it wasn’t proven, right?
I don’t even know what to believe, but the caption stuff sounds insane. She’s yelling “demon” and stuff, and then the guy is on the phone in the garage like nothing? I guess police can’t do much if there’s no real evidence, but still… why was it investigated at all? Also “special needs” being mentioned, like that’s always the most heartbreaking angle, and then it’s just closed?? Feels like it’ll be one of those cases nobody fully explains.
