When Jaz Sinclair stepped back into The Boys universe on May 13. it was brief—but for her. it carried the weight of a full chapter closing. The 31-year-old actress. who portrayed Marie Moreau in the now-canceled Gen V spin-off. made a short appearance in The Boys Season 5 Episode 7. Then she logged onto social media and wrote a farewell message that read like a goodbye to the franchise itself.
Sinclair began by taking fans back to where it all started. Her first audition for Gen V was in January 2021. After five more auditions, she said she “screamed and cried and jumped up and down,” describing the feeling as “head to toe excitement” that comes only when something finally feels right.
She didn’t try to compress five years into a simple takeaway. “I can’t possibly sum up the last 5 years of joys. challenges. loss. laughter. late nights. and friendships in a post. ” Sinclair wrote. But she made sure the heart of her message was clear: she was honored to play Marie. “She is fierce and flawed and powerful as hell. ” Sinclair said. adding that embodying a “multifaceted and badass” character—especially “a woman of color”—brought her pride.
Her post ended with two kinds of gratitude: thanks to fans, and a nod to a person who was there for the ride before she was gone from it. Sinclair referenced her late co-star, Chance Perdomo.
The timing lands in an awkward space. Just a few days earlier. The Boys creator Eric Kripke had teased a continuation of Gen V’s story. confirming in a recent sit-down that Season 2 did not end Marie Moreau’s arc and that “at least some of the Gen V gang” could return in future Boys spin-offs. Sinclair’s choice to post a goodbye anyway—after her Season 5 cameo—underscores the gap between what a creative team might be planning and what an actor is ready to step away from.
