Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide leaks as Samsung tests in Korea

Leaked images posted by Ice Universe show Samsung’s upcoming wide-format Galaxy Z Fold foldable being used publicly in Korea inside the company’s anti-leak case. The device is expected to land in July and may debut simply as the Galaxy Z Fold 8, while the “nor
A restaurant in Korea wasn’t supposed to be part of Samsung’s foldable testing. But for the first time. leaked photos have captured what appears to be the company’s upcoming wide-format Galaxy Z Fold phone in real-world use—wrapped in the bulky anti-leak shell Samsung is known to use to keep designs from leaking early.
The images, posted on X by tipster Ice Universe, reportedly show a Samsung employee using the device at a restaurant. The shots were captured at 20x zoom, which makes the handset itself hard to read clearly. Still. even through the disguise. the wider proportions stand out—enough to suggest the device lines up with previously leaked renders tied to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide.
The anti-leak case does its job by hiding most of the phone’s real design. including the cameras and overall shape. But parts of the display and the frame remain visible. In these leaked images, the proportions appear wider than those of Samsung’s current Galaxy Z Fold lineup. There are also faint hints of a rumored dual-camera setup on the back.
This leak lands just days after Ice Universe claimed the branding could change. The tipster said the so-called Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide would launch simply as the Galaxy Z Fold 8, while the regular Galaxy Z Fold 8 could instead debut as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
If that’s accurate. the lineup wouldn’t just shift specs—it would reshuffle the names consumers associate with each tier. Earlier leaks have pointed to a wide foldable with dual rear cameras and a 4,800mAh battery. Meanwhile. the Ultra variant has been linked to a triple-camera setup. a larger 5. 000mAh battery. faster wired charging. and a new 50MP ultrawide camera.
Samsung’s next generation of foldables is expected to be unveiled at a Galaxy Unpacked event rumored to take place in London on July 22. With just weeks until that announcement. sightings like this—especially one occurring in public while hidden inside an anti-leak case—fit the pattern of a launch cycle that’s already spilling over.
For now, the images don’t confirm every detail. But they do make one thing feel harder to dismiss: the wider Galaxy Z Fold being tested is close enough to show up in the wild, and Samsung may be preparing to make its most crowded foldable lineup feel brand-new.
