Galaxy A27 costs $349.99 with key spec cuts

Samsung’s Galaxy A27 starts at $349.99—$50 more than last year’s Galaxy A26—while dialing back several headline features. The one notable change is a chipset upgrade, with sales starting in the US on July 14.

By the time you line up Samsung’s new Galaxy A27 against last year’s Galaxy A26, the math doesn’t flatter the upgrade.

The Galaxy A27 has been announced at $349.99—$50 more than last year’s A26. In today’s tighter economy, price increases are common. But Samsung is also downgrading a few key specs, making the higher sticker price harder to swallow.

Compared to last year’s phone. the A27 cuts the resolution on the selfie camera to 12 megapixels from the previous model’s higher offering. and it also reduces the ultrawide camera to 5 megapixels. Waterproofing drops to IP64. The phone is also very slightly thicker at 7.8mm. Beyond those changes. several core specs stay the same: 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. a 5. 000mAh battery. a 6.7-inch 120Hz display. and a 50-megapixel rear camera.

There’s only one real upgrade: a move from Samsung’s Exynos 1380 to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset. It’s a switch that may matter to performance-minded buyers, but it doesn’t soften the overall trade-off when camera hardware and water resistance are stepping back.

Samsung isn’t carrying the entire blame. Prices are up across the industry, and budget phones can get squeezed especially hard. Nothing has even cancelled planned smartphone additions to its budget-friendly CMF line. Apple also increased prices today, though for now its iPhones haven’t been affected.

For buyers, the A27’s timing is set. In the US, the Galaxy A27 goes on sale on July 14, and it will be available only in black. International markets will get blue and pink options, with an earlier July 3rd release.

  1. I swear waterproof ratings always get downgraded when prices go up. IP64 sounds like the phone can survive ONE splash and then it’s dead. Also 120Hz for $350?? that part better not be lying lol.

  2. Wait I thought the A27 was supposed to be the “upgrade” phone. But it’s thicker and selfie is 12MP now?? Like what are they even upgrading then, the name? The chipset change sounds nice but if the cameras are getting cut I don’t care.

  3. Galaxy A phones always act like they’re doing you a favor. $349.99 for less water resistance?? I saw IP64 and immediately assumed it was basically not waterproof at all. And why only black in the US, seems weirdly petty. Apple price increases too so now it’s like everyone’s just taking turns charging more for the same junk.
