Flacco says Garrett trade is “Good for us”
Flacco says – Joe Flacco welcomed Myles Garrett’s Monday trade from the Browns to the Rams, saying it’s “Good for us” for the Bengals—especially with Cincinnati’s need to face Cleveland twice this season.
The news didn’t just travel through the NFL world on Monday—it hit the Bengals’ daily reality fast, right down to how their players talk about practice.
Joe Flacco, the Bengals quarterback who once shared a locker room with Myles Garrett in Cleveland, reacted to Garrett’s trade from the Browns to the Rams with a clear message. “Good for us,” Flacco said, via Bengals.com.
Flacco’s approval wasn’t complicated. Garrett is the kind of defensive force you plan for—then plan around. When he’s no longer in the same division, the preparation changes immediately.
Cincinnati’s offensive line took the trade the same way. Amarius Mims and Orlando Brown Jr., both of the Bengals’ starting offensive tackles, described the move as a win for Garrett—and a win for the Rams. But they also made the Bengals’ responsibility just as plain.
Mims said he’s sure the trade was felt across the league before practice even fully started. “I’m pretty sure anybody practicing today at the time we were practicing. no matter what it was. I assure you every team got a hold of that news. ” Mims said. “It’s huge when you get a guy like Myles Garrett, a future Hall of Famer. It’s going to be a buzz. Congrats to those guys.”.
Brown agreed that Garrett landing with a contender makes sense. Still, his message carried the urgency of a team that can’t afford distractions. “It doesn’t matter. You still have to go win on Sundays. Congrats to Myles. That’s how I feel. We still have to go win,” Brown said.
With Garrett gone, the Bengals’ schedule reality shifts in a way that’s hard to ignore: their task of winning twice against the Browns this year gets a little easier.
