ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. A few of these storms could be strong to severe.
Severe Storm Outlook:
A Level 2 risk (slight risk) of severe weather is in place across SE MN and NE IA. The two primary threats will be large hail and gusty winds. The tornado threat is low.
Heavy downpours are possible overnight, too.
Storm Timing:
Showers and storms will move east of I-35 after midnight Wednesday morning. Storms will stay in the region from 1 a.m. until 6 a.m. The latest model trends indicate storms will be at their strongest in our region between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m.
Expect storms to exit SE MN and NE IA around 6 to 7 a.m. Wednesday morning. Skies should quickly clear throughout the morning, with partly cloudy skies in the afternoon and evening.
Hot and humid conditions are expected again on Wednesday. Highs will be in the mid-80s with partly cloudy skies in the afternoon. Dew points will be in the middle and upper 60s, making conditions humid. Winds will be light out of the east around 5 to 8 mph.
Another round of isolated showers and storms is possible Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Stray storm chances continue on Friday and Saturday, too.
Highs will stay in the mid-80s through the upcoming holiday weekend. Finally, by the middle of next week, highs will drop to seasonal averages in the mid-70s.
