Sean Ono Lennon is a first-time father.
On Tuesday, the musician announced via Instagram that his longtime girlfriend, Charlotte Kemp Muhl, had recently given birth to a baby boy named Aurelius.
“@charlottekempmuhl and I have created a Human Bean!” he captioned a sweet photo of the couple cradling the newborn. “His name is Aurelius! Thank you!”
Sean also posted a snap of him holding his son and an image of Charlotte, 39, sitting with Aurelius in a hospital bed.
“Baby Momma!” the 50-year-old declared.
While in her own post, Charlotte shared some musings about becoming a new parent.
“We made a human! Am convinced DNA is agentic alien quaternary code,” she wrote. “The sleep deprivation only adds to the surrealism… Burping technique tips welcome. Been playing him Aphex Twin and Stravinsky. Meconium (a baby’s first poop) is crazy.”
Sean and model-musician Charlotte started dating in 2007. They perform together as the musical duo, The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger.
Little Aurelius is the only grandchild of artist Yoko Ono and the late John Lennon. The Beatles icon was murdered at the age of 40 in 1980, when Sean was five years old.
Sean rarely speaks about his famous parents, but in an interview for CBS Sunday Morning that aired last December, the producer emphasised that he’s made it his mission to carry on the artists’ legacy.
“Obviously, the world is also the custodian of (Lennon’s) legacy, I would say,” he shared. “I’m just doing my best to help make sure that the younger generation doesn’t forget about The Beatles and John and Yoko. That’s how I look at it.”
