Fincher’s Cliff Booth Netflix Movie Hits IMAX for Two Weeks

Fincher’s Cliff – David Fincher’s next film, a continuation of “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” centered on Brad Pitt’s Cliff Booth, will premiere exclusively in IMAX theaters for two weeks starting Nov. 25 before moving to Netflix on Dec. 23.
When Cliff Booth returns, it won’t be crawling onto your phone screen first. David Fincher’s next film—set as a continuation of “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” starring Brad Pitt as Cliff Booth—will open exclusively in IMAX theaters for two weeks. Netflix announced Wednesday. before the movie reaches streaming.
Netflix set the theatrical debut for Nov. 25. After that IMAX run, the untitled film will hit Netflix on Dec. 23.
The release date has its own tangled history. The Nov. 25 slot was previously earmarked for Greta Gerwig’s “Narnia” movie before it was delayed to 2027. Gerwig’s “Narnia” is now set for a full wide theatrical release in February, with theater windows preceding its eventual streamer arrival.
For Fincher’s continuation, Pitt returns to his Oscar-winning role as Cliff Booth—but this time the world looks different. The film is set in 1977 and follows a very different Hollywood than the one audiences met before.
The cast includes Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis, and Karren Karagulian. Production will be handled by Pitt and Ceán Chaffin.
With the IMAX run locked in first, the question for moviegoers is simple: how will this 1977 Hollywood sequel feel on the largest screens available—before it becomes part of Netflix’s next streaming moment on Dec. 23?
