The morning after three people were killed at the San Diego Islamic Center, investigators described what they say was left behind online—an online trail that they believe shows how two teenagers arrived at their attack.
At a press conference on May 19. Mark Remily. special agent in charge of the FBI’s San Diego field office. said investigators have recovered a document he described as a manifesto. “I can confirm there has been a manifesto that has been recovered,” Remily said. He also described writings and materials found as the investigation continued. including evidence of beliefs that spanned religious and racial targets. “They didn’t discriminate on who they hated, there was a wide aspect of races and religions,” he added.
Remily said investigators found additional materials in the vehicle used by the suspected attackers. including writings tied to ideologies outlining religious and racial views about what the attackers believed the world should look like. The FBI characterized the suspects as teenagers and said their path toward violence appeared to have been shaped by what they encountered online.
“They appear to have been radicalized online,” Remily said. Investigators also described what they believed motivated the choice of target: the center was targeted “because of how they looked or where they worshipped.”
San Diego Police Chief Scott Wahl said officials recovered 30 guns and a crossbow during the ongoing investigation. The investigation is still moving, and law enforcement said they are actively examining the suspects’ electronics.
Asked about reports that the attackers livestreamed at least part of their shooting—video that was later posted online—Remily acknowledged the information but said investigators could not share more at this stage. “I’m aware of that information. and again there’s not a lot I can share about that at this point because we are actively investigating their electronics. We recently got search warrants in place,” he said.
The sequence of details law enforcement offered on May 19—manifesto materials. writings tied to religious and racial beliefs. and evidence tied to electronics still being examined—frames a case where digital trace meets physical violence. The investigation remains ongoing. and officials have not moved beyond the evidence they can confirm as they continue to review what the suspects left behind.

So they had a manifesto but still missed it somehow? Wild.
Teenagers radicalized online… yeah and nobody’s watching the internet like they claim. Also 30 guns?? like how do you even hide that from parents.
I keep seeing the word “livestream” and then they act like it’s still a mystery. Like if video was posted online then it’s already public, no?
Manifesto + crossbow + “electronics being examined” just feels like they’re piecing it together after the fact. But how did they get 30 guns and a crossbow if they were “just teenagers”?? Also targeting a place because of where they worship… isn’t that exactly what the headline already says, so not sure what new info this is.
