Charming Old Mousen barn conversion priced at £550,000

Take a look inside a ‘charming’ barn conversion in the ‘stunning’ Northumberland countryside, up for sale at £550,000. Fay Cottage, in the hamlet of Old Mousen, is being marketed by Bradley Hall, and offers ‘character and charm’ across two ‘spacious’ floors. Inside, the hall, with a store cupboard, leads into the dining area, which could also be a reception room or snug, due to its versatility. The kitchen is the heart of the home, with exposed stone walls and a stone arch, a large island
with breakfast seating, and both wall and floor units for storage. In terms of the appliances within the kitchen, they include dishwasher, fridge freezer, wine cooler, granite worktops and a gas Rangemaster. Steps then lead to the dining area with space for a table and snug area, and patio doors lead into the enclosed courtyard, with a utility room also offering more storage space. The sitting room has a log burning stove set in an inglenook fireplace, and a window seat overlooking the garden, with
a further office room and large store room on the ground floor, as well as a WC with a wash hand basin. Stairs lead up to the first floor, with two ensuite shore rooms, with one having fitted wardrobes, and the other with dual aspect views. The master bedroom has a balcony with seating and views over the nearby countryside and coast, and the family bathroom has a freestanding bath, separate shower, WC and wash hand basin. The property also features high ceiling, exposed beams
and latch doors throughout. Outside, the courtyard is a suntrap that provides a great seating area, with a lawned garden and a summerhouse. The driveway provides ample parking for several cars, and two sheds offer even more good storage space for the property. Old Mousen offers the ‘perfect balance of rural tranquillity and excellent connectivity’, and is positioned with easy access to the A1, for convenient links to both north to Scotland and south towards Newcastle and further into the region, as well as being
just a short drive from the coast. If you are interested in this property and would like to find out further information, you can do so by visiting the Bradley Hall website here.

£550k for a barn? That’s wild.
Sounds “charming” but barn conversions always look better in listings than in real life. Like are the floors actually sturdy or is it just beams and vibes? Also Old Mousen?? Kinda sounds made up.
Wait so it’s 2 ensuite bedrooms but also a master with a balcony, so where do they put the rest of the bathrooms? I’m confused. And the A1 access is “easy” but it’s also close to the coast… so which is it, rural or constant tourist traffic?
I don’t get why they act like exposed beams are some luxury, like my grandma’s shed has beams too lol. The kitchen having a wine cooler and a gas Rangemaster is cool, but £550k still feels like a lot for Northumberland. If it’s got patio doors and an enclosed courtyard then why not just say “small yard” instead of “suntrap.” Also isn’t a barn conversion usually drafty?
