Fans savage Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as Thunder fall 111-103

After the Oklahoma City Thunder were beaten 111-103 by the San Antonio Spurs in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander faced fresh online attacks over “flopping,” with viral clips fueling accusations of foul baiting even as he scored

Saturday night was supposed to deliver another Thunder statement—one more step toward back-to-back NBA championships. Instead, the Oklahoma City Thunder ran into a wall in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals, losing 111-103 to the San Antonio Spurs.

For Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the sting of that defeat carried an extra layer of scrutiny. Even after the season’s hopes ended. the two-time MVP still found himself at the center of a familiar argument: flopping. Across social media, fans pushed fresh allegations, pointing to moments they believed showed him “foul baiting” and exaggerating contact.

A viral clip reignited the backlash quickly. It showed Gilgeous-Alexander crashing to the floor after appearing to invite contact from Devin Vassell. Another incident followed in the same frantic spirit of debate: Gilgeous-Alexander brushed Stephon Castle as he jumped to shoot. landed on Castle’s foot. and then tumbled to the floor. This time, no foul was called, but that didn’t cool the online reaction.

“Refs aren’t falling for SGA’s flops,” one fan wrote alongside the video. Another user went harsher. calling him “the worst MVP the league has seen” and accusing him of “foul baiting.” Someone else kept it blunt—“All he does is flop”—while another poster urged officials to be tougher. writing: “Come on. stop calling this BS.”.

The mocking didn’t stay tied to those clips. After the Thunder’s playoff loss, at least one fan jabbed at Gilgeous-Alexander’s history of treatment claims, writing: “He can finally receive treatment for his vertigo over the summer.”

On the court, the numbers didn’t support the idea that he disappeared. Gilgeous-Alexander led Oklahoma City with 35 points and nine assists. doing the kind of work that usually defines a star’s night in a Game 7. But it wasn’t enough to change the outcome. For the eighth season in a row, the NBA will have a new champion.

When the dust settled, Gilgeous-Alexander didn’t reach for excuses. “They were just the better team tonight, from start to finish,” he said. “And every time we tried to cut into it and take control of the game, it felt like they had an answer.”

He added: “Hats off to them. They played better tonight and they deserved to win the game.”

The contrast was immediate—and uncomfortable. His performance still stood out. the Spurs still proved it on the scoreboard. and yet the conversation on Saturday night moved just as quickly toward whether he earned contact the way fans believe he sells it. As Oklahoma City’s season ended. the argument over Gilgeous-Alexander’s officiating treatment became the loudest echo of a game that ultimately belonged to San Antonio.

  1. I mean he literally hits the ground like every time. Then people act surprised he gets hate. Also Thunder lost so y’all are looking extra for reasons.

  2. Why is everyone saying vertigo like it’s confirmed? Like did the team come out and say something or is that just Twitter doctors guessing. And if there was no foul called then what exactly was the “baiting” part?

  3. Game 7 was trash for OKC but Spurs defense gets ignored. The clip where he tumbles after brushing that dude’s foot could be legit contact, not a flop. Yet people keep calling him the worst MVP?? Like MVPs can’t be treated after the season either? Idk seems like everybody mad and just picking the same narrative.
