Fans call USA-Belgium ticket prices “insane” in Seattle

USA-Belgium ticket – With the U.S. Men’s National Team set to play Belgium in Seattle on Monday, July 6, fans are publicly split over ticket prices—ranging from roughly $2,200 to $13,000 on StubHub and about $3,000 to $8,500 on Ticketmaster—sparking worries that many supporters wi
Portland fans are watching the calendar turn toward Monday, July 6, with one question taking over group chats and sports bars: should they pay those World Cup ticket prices to see the U.S. Men’s National Team play Belgium in Seattle—or watch from home.
The debate got real after FOX 12 looked up what the match is going for. On StubHub, the cheapest tickets found were about $2,200, while the most expensive climbed to about $13,000. On Ticketmaster, prices ranged from about $3,000 to $8,500.
“I think it’s absurd, it really should be that expensive to go support your team and to go have fun,” said Zein Alali, who plans to attend Monday’s match. Alali said his friend was able to win a $500 ticket in a lottery—an option that made the gap between luck and cost feel even wider.
Others weren’t so fortunate. Isabelle Chavez said the numbers felt out of reach.
“For it to be that high, that’s like maybe two of my checks, which is insane. I’m not going to buy those tickets,” she said.
Samira Perez pointed to the idea that some kind of discount might be expected.
“You would expect its citizens to get a discount, 20% or something,” Perez said.
Not everyone is walking away empty-handed. Gabriel Santacruz said he and his friends are going anyway—by digging into savings and paying what they could find.
“We just swore to each other we’re going to a game, no matter what, we’re pulling money out of our savings, we’re doing what we need to do,” he said.
Santacruz said he got his ticket for around $430. But he also noticed the price volatility in the same area. saying tickets in the same row are now selling for $3. 200. He said even after they got their tickets. prices still climbed—up to about a thousand at one point. then doubling again. and then reaching what he called “just ridiculous.”.
That frustration is pushing some fans toward a different kind of gathering: not a seat in Seattle, but a seat in a neighborhood. For fans who said they’re priced out, the message is that watching together at home matters more than the ticket itself.
“You can make the prices as high as you want, we’re still going to come together as a people. This is free, ok, free 99. I didn’t have to spend a dollar of my check, and I’m still around amazing people,” Perez said.
For those who can’t make it to Seattle, Team USA’s match against Belgium will be shown on FOX 12 on Monday, July 6.
