Family demands justice after Walk of Fame killing

family demands – The family of Barry Henderson, 37, says he was attacked by a dog and then stabbed during a group assault on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on May 20, and they’re calling for justice as police hold four men on suspicion of murder.
Hollywood Boulevard felt like a normal afternoon to Barry Henderson’s loved ones—until a dog tore into him, then a group of men surrounded him across the street, punching and kicking as Henderson tried to get away.
Henderson, 37, was waiting for a bus near the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Las Palmas Avenue around 3:30 p.m. on May 20 when he was attacked by a dog, according to relatives and a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman. Surveillance video captured Henderson running across Hollywood Boulevard while the dog bit at his ankles. In the footage posted online by community activist Najee Ali. a group of men gives chase; one man can be seen holding a weapon.
The assault didn’t end at the chase. The video shows the group surrounding Henderson on the other side of the street, with men punching and kicking him.
LAPD Officer Norma Eisenman, a department spokeswoman, said Henderson suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at a hospital a short time later.
Police arrested three suspects the day of the attack: Fuller Bruce Lamont Jr., Hernandez Ifaul and Garcia Robert Anthony, Eisenman said. Eisenman also said Anthony allegedly beat the victim and repeatedly struck him with a “small bat.”
Eisenman said the dog’s owner, Patrick Randall Perry, was arrested on May 28. Detectives believe Perry stabbed Henderson, Eisenman said.
Court records and past incidents have complicated the family’s grief with questions about what was known before the killing.
A man by the same name was arrested in the same area in 2024 for getting into a fight outside a Church of Scientology building on the Walk of Fame, according to a report by NBC Los Angeles. Police said Perry is 55 years old. The man described in the 2024 news story was 52 at the time.
All four men—Lamont, Ifaul, Robert Anthony Garcia and Perry—were arrested on suspicion of murder and are being held in lieu of $2 million, Eisenman said. It was not immediately clear if a case had been presented to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
At a vigil held in Hollywood on Friday afternoon, Henderson’s family described a man they say wasn’t trying to hurt anyone.
“My cousin was not the aggressor, my cousin was just here. He was running away. He was down on the ground,” Henderson’s cousin, Demeya Brewer, said during the vigil, later publishing the statement on Facebook.
Another relative, Henderson’s sister, O’koia Nixon, said, “Barry was an innocent man,” adding: “A man who brought no harm to anyone.”
Relatives also described Henderson as someone trying to rebuild his life. Ali said Henderson had recently started taking classes again and was hoping to find a new career. Others said Henderson was “happy-go-lucky,” and that he “brought a smile” everywhere he went, according to a video of the vigil.
Even before May 20, some in the community say they believed Perry posed a danger.
At least one local activist said he had expressed concern about Perry and his dog before. William Gude. better known online under the handle “Film The Police L.A. ” claimed Perry’s dog had bitten him in the past. Gude also said he sent the LAPD a video of a man he identified as Perry threatening him with a collapsible baton in 2024. In that video. Gude said the man can be seen holding a dog on a leash that looks similar to the one in the surveillance footage of Henderson’s killing.
Police officials wrote back to Gude in 2024 that an investigation had been opened. It was not immediately clear what happened to that investigation. Criminal court records do not show recent charges against Perry.
What remains is the collision of the family’s insistence that Henderson was fleeing with the video’s blunt depiction of a public attack—dog bites, a group chase, punches and kicks—followed by stab wounds that ended his life.
For the family, the fight now isn’t only over what happened on the street. It’s over what could have been prevented, and how long it took for accountability to follow.

That’s just messed up, poor guy.
So was the dog like, part of it or was it an accident? I keep seeing stuff online like it was set up and then other people saying it was just a random attack. Either way stabbing someone is wild.
I saw the headline and thought it was only a dog bite at first. But then it’s stabbing and a whole group assault? And they’re saying the dog owner got arrested later like that’s gonna fix anything. Also the names being similar/previous incidents part makes me feel like the whole story is already messy from the beginning.
Hollywood Walk of Fame just turned into a crime scene again, huh. Not surprised, I mean that area is chaos with tourists and everything. If the video shows a weapon, why are there “four men” only, and what about the dog owner… like he didn’t stab at the first part? Sounds like there’s missing info but the family wants justice so I hope they get it, regardless.
