The project lands with extra weight for Cherry fans. coming at a moment when Euphoria’s third season is pulling major attention worldwide. The show has drawn millions of viewers. including 8.5 million for its third season premiere in just three days. and its star power has kept the conversation running between seasons.
Shudder’s upcoming thriller follows Amber and her four best girlfriends as they set out for what’s supposed to be a much-needed trip away. It doesn’t stay that way. Their partying draws the attention of hostile locals, who make it clear they’re not welcome. When an aggressive man confronts them, the night shifts into something darker—one that leaves the girls permanently changed.
Ahead of the release date, Pakzad is already the kind of filmmaker people want to track. She is an actress and filmmaker who won the 2022 LA Film Festival’s Best Short and previously appeared in Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn. With Find Your Friends. she’s also working from a personal spark: Pakzad has said the film was inspired by a terrifying real experience.
In a previous interview, Pakzad described how the situation began at an Airbnb. She said, “The Airbnb was on a dead end, of course. So you pull out of the driveway. and there’s this green Mustang that’s waiting outside on the street.” Pakzad continued. “He puts his brights on. turns his car. and blocks me into the dead end. Immediately, I knew something was weird … this feels premeditated, something is wrong. On instinct. I just took the car and drove around him — right on the neighbor’s lawn — and just started speeding.”.
What followed escalated fast. Pakzad added that it “turned into a 100 m.p.h. car chase on the Joshua Tree freeway. where he was trying to swerve into my car. swerve me off the road.” She said they were trying to call the police but “had no service.” Eventually. she described spotting a car in the distance and calling out for help—“I just started calling for help and honking. and then he ended up turning around.” Pakzad summed it up with a line that lands like a wound: “But it was the most terrifying seven minutes of my life.”.
That lived intensity is built into the way Find Your Friends is positioned—right down to its pace and threat level. Pakzad’s film also features a cast packed with recognizable genre talent. including Chloe Cherry. Helena Howard of I Saw the TV Glow fame. Bella Thorne. Zion Moreno. and more. And as part of the Summer Preview Event. Collider is set to bring viewers an exclusive first look at Cherry’s Lola in Find Your Friends.
The film’s creative team rounds out with Izabel Pakzad as director and writer. Producers listed for the project are Gary Michael Walters, Ana Menendez, Andrea Iervolino, Monika Bacardi, Luca Matrundola, Iris Torres, and Allison Friedman.
When June 12. 2026 arrives. viewers won’t just be stepping into a thriller—they’ll be stepping into a story built from the kind of fear that can’t be faked. Pakzad has said it herself: the terror wasn’t abstract. It was seven minutes, high-speed, and personal—now translated into a getaway that turns into something far worse.
