Erie Insurance jumps 15 spots to 308th on Fortune 500

Erie Insurance reached No. 308 on the 2026 Fortune 500 list, up 15 places from last year’s No. 323. The company credits the result to customer trust and the work of employees and agents, marking its 23rd consecutive appearance on Fortune’s annual roster.
Erie Insurance stepped onto the next rung of the corporate rankings this year—rising to 308th on the 2026 Fortune 500 list after finishing 323rd in 2025.
In an official announcement, the company said the move represents a 15-position advance, and it also marks its 23rd consecutive year on Fortune’s annual roster of America’s largest corporations. The ranking is based on total revenue for each company’s 2025 fiscal year.
“For our place on the Fortune 500 reflects the trust our customers place in ERIE and the dedication our employees and agents bring to serving them every day,” Tim NeCastro, president and chief executive officer, said in a statement released by the company.
Fortune’s methodology also puts a clear bar on eligibility. Companies must be incorporated in the U.S., operate domestically, and file financial statements with a government agency. For this year’s list, Fortune set the revenue threshold for inclusion at $7.5 billion—up 5% from the prior year.
For Erie Insurance, this latest climb continues a longer run of upward movement that began decades earlier. The company first debuted on the Fortune 500 in 2003 at No. 454. Since then. it has advanced 146 positions. underscoring how the Erie. Pennsylvania-based mutual insurer has expanded its customer base and operations across its regional footprint.
The 2026 Fortune 500 also reflects the scale of the companies on the roster more broadly: the list marks the 72nd year of the annual ranking and collectively represents companies accounting for about two-thirds of U.S. gross domestic product. For Erie, landing at No. 308 places it within that larger concentration of the nation’s biggest and most influential enterprises—an outcome measured. as always. by revenue and the reach it signals in the property and casualty insurance market.
At the moment, the company’s position tells a straightforward story: a mutual insurer with decades of steady presence on the list is continuing to grow in size—enough, this year, to move up 15 places and extend a streak that now stands at 23 consecutive appearances.
