Ella Langley Covers Shania Twain, Sends ACM Love Note

Ella Langley released a TikTok piano cover of Shania Twain’s 1998 hit “You’re Still the One,” writing, “I’ll never get over this song.” Twain replied with a warm comment tied to the ACM Awards, where Langley was among the night’s big winners.

Ella Langley didn’t wait for the applause—she went straight for the song.

On June 10, the rising country star shared a video snippet on TikTok of herself performing Shania Twain’s 1998 classic “You’re Still the One” in a piano version. “I’ll never get over this song,” Langley captioned the post, the kind of line that reads like a personal promise more than a review.

Twain noticed. The singer commented on the video with: “So flattered [heart emoji] Loved getting to connect at ACMs xx.” It’s a brief message. but it lands with weight because Twain hosted this year’s ACM Awards—where Langley walked away with wins in categories including song of the year and single of the year (for “Choosin’ Texas”). as well as female artist of the year.

Langley’s tribute sits alongside her own momentum. Her hit “Choosin’ Texas” has just broken a record on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart with 28 weeks at No. 1. Even with that milestone, she’s still returning to the songs that shaped her—publishing covers regularly on social media.

“You’re Still the One” is a longtime fan favorite for good reason. The track appeared on Twain’s 1997 album Come On Over, climbed to No. 2 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, and topped both the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts. It also earned Grammys for best country song and best female country vocal performance.

Langley’s history of covers shows the range of her influences. She’s previously shared versions of Freddy Fender’s “Wasted Days and Wasted Nights” and George Strait’s “Fool Hearted Memory.” On her Billboard 200 chart-topping album Dandelion. she also included a cover of Kitty Wells’s 1952 classic “It Wasn’t God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels.” Wells’s hit was a retort to Hank Thompson’s “The Wild Side of Life.”.

Outside of her phone camera, Langley has been bringing the same momentum to live stages. On June 4, she performed a set at Nissan Stadium in downtown Nashville during CMA Fest. She also joined Gretchen Wilson for a version of Wilson’s “Here for the Party.”

It’s the same pattern again: chart success, then craft. And in this case, a simple piano cover that reached the woman who helped make the classic what it is—right at the intersection of admiration and recognition.

  1. I saw the TikTok and thought it was gonna be cringe but it actually sounded really good. Also “Choosin’ Texas” breaking a record?? Like Billboard just gives her No. 1 forever or what lol. Still the song Shania picked in the comment was such a move.

  2. Not trying to hate but isn’t “You’re Still the One” like already older than the internet, why does everybody freak out over it every year? And Twain hosted this year’s ACMs so of course she commented, publicity stuff. But hey if it boosts that “Dandelion” album then whatever. I’m more confused how a piano cover gets Grammys though like did Shania donate her Grammy or something??
