Eight New Songs Land June 2, 2026

From Vince Staples’ “Cotton” to Beth Orton’s “Otherside,” eight new tracks—plus singles tied to upcoming albums and Pride—arrive on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
It’s Tuesday, June 2, 2026, and the new-music rush doesn’t slow down. This time the releases run from late-night endurance and national-team folklore to post-breakup reset and Pride-timed swagger—each one a different way of saying: life keeps moving, even when it hurts.
Vince Staples is first up with “Cotton.” It’s the newest single ahead of the release of his new album Cry Baby on Friday. “Cotton” follows earlier cuts “Blackberry Marmalade” and “White Flag.”
Beth Orton offers a different kind of gravity with “Otherside,” the stirring closer of her forthcoming album The Ground Above. Orton described the track through the language of daybreak: “I heard that the first birdsong of a new day is the sound of the birds letting it be known they are still here. that they have made it through the night alive and safe.” She added that. with “Otherside. ” “what began as a not so simple tale of sleeplessness went on to have me turning over bigger themes. ” including resilience in the face of loss. what freedom means to the individual and the collective. and “the ability to start again and make beautiful a life when it has been torn apart.”.
Death Cab for Cutie have shared “Stone Over Water. ” another single from their forthcoming album I Built You a Tower. arriving later this week. The band described it plainly: “’Stone Over Water’ is a song about trying to convince everyone around you and most importantly. yourself. that you are okay when you definitely are not.” It follows “Riptides” and “Punching the Flowers.”.
Belle and Sebastian bring Scotland into the frame with “It Only Takes One Lion. ” released as a studio version of their offering for Scotland’s World Cup anthem. Stuart Murdoch said the song is “a personal song about following the travails of Scotland’s national team for the last 50 years. ” and that it “came out naturally the day after the game against Denmark.” He added that the track “tries to encompass the experience of the whole country following Scotland.”.
Fenne Lily’s “Uh Huh” comes with the announcement of a new album, Win Win. The Brooklyn-based artist framed the single as a turning point: it “follows the end of one love and the start of another. when you meet someone new but the residual pain from the time before is holding you back.” She said. “Every breakup has felt like it’ll hurt forever but it’s always led me to something different. often better. never nothing.”.
For Pride timing, Meg Stalter releases “GAY,” calling it out with her own attitude—“Everything we do is slay”—in a new single released just in time for Pride. “GAY” is the second preview of the actess and comedian’s new album Crave, due later this summer.
Public Opinion return with “When Kevin Gets Free,” released with a Jarrett Barnes-directed video. The track is taken from their forthcoming album The Curse of Public Opinion, which arrives August 7 via SideOneDummy.
Mykki Blanco rounds out the slate by announcing a new album. CAFE PARADISO. out September 4. and sharing the groovy lead single “Little Feet.” Blanco said in a press release. “If there is one thing I know how to do. it’s how to get the most out of life. ” and added. “You fuck up. You make mistakes. But hopefully, you’re achieving more than you’re fucking up. Overall, I would say I do well, milking life for all it’s got.”.

Cool, but is this like a concert schedule too or just random songs dropping on a Tuesday?
I swear every June 2nd there’s new music, like the calendar is programmed. Vince Staples “Cotton” sounds like a clothes brand ad though lol.
So Beth Orton is saying the birds “made it through the night alive”?? That’s not how birds work, they’re just… birds. Also “Otherside” closer??? I thought closers were always like upbeat.
This whole article is messy bc it keeps saying it’s Tuesday, June 2, 2026 like we don’t know the date. Pride-timed swagger too?? I’m trying to figure out if “Stone Over Water” is gonna be sad or rage-y, like the title sounds calm but the description says you’re definitely not okay so… which one is it.
