DVLA’s Ashanti regional office is set to stay open later, starting May 4, and residents may soon find it easier to handle licensing and vehicle-related errands without rushing during the day.
Misryoum reports that the office will operate two daily shifts: 6 AM to 2 PM, and 2 PM to 10 PM. The timing change is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 4, 2026.
This kind of shift expansion matters because it can reduce waiting pressure for people who work standard hours, especially when licensing tasks often need time and planning.
The plan, according to Misryoum, was announced during a clean-up exercise at the DVLA regional office tied to May Day activities. The Regional Manager, Jerry Edem Aflabo, explained how the extended arrangement will work and why the service is being broadened.
Mr Aflabo said the extended service will roll out across all 16 regional capital offices of the DVLA. He also noted that improvements have been made to security and lighting systems to support operations into the night and protect both staff and clients.
In practical terms, extended hours only help if people feel safe and the premises are ready for late-day traffic, which is why upgrades to lighting and security are being emphasized.
Misryoum adds that from 5 PM onwards, only electronic payments will be accepted. The move is intended to strengthen transaction security as night operations ramp up.
The DVLA has encouraged the public to take advantage of the extended service hours, signaling an effort to make access more convenient for clients who previously faced limited window times.
