Dutton Ranch exec addresses Feehan firing fallout

Dutton Ranch executive producer Christina Voros has responded to news that showrunner Chad Feehan won’t return, praising his work while saying she had little to add about the dynamics behind his departure. The shakeup arrives as the Yellowstone universe pushes
For a show built on tense family alliances and shifting loyalties, Dutton Ranch’s abrupt showrunner change landed like a jolt. And now, one of the people closest to the production has finally stepped into the silence.
Executive producer Christina Voros addressed the reported firing of Chad Feehan, speaking to ScreenRant earlier this month about his work on Yellowstone’s spinoff. Voros said Feehan “did an exceptional job building a world of adversaries for Rip and Beth.”
When it came to “dynamics behind his departure,” Voros said she didn’t have much to add. She pointed out that Dutton Ranch had, at that point, not “come out into the world yet,” and that a future without Feehan was “beyond” her knowledge.
Still, she made sure to recognize the impact Feehan and his team had made on the story’s doorways—thanking him and his team for “creating a world for these characters to move into.”
The news first broke in April that Feehan would not return as showrunner after completing work on season 1. Feehan—who created Lawmen: Bass Reeves with Taylor Sheridan—reportedly left Dutton Ranch after alleged friction with series stars Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly, among others.
Other reports also claimed that Sheridan and his producing partner David Glasser, along with the two leads, were allegedly more unhappy with how Feehan ran the production than with the scripts themselves. None of the cast has publicly addressed the producer’s exit.
Yellowstone, which premiered in 2018, introduced viewers to the fictional Dutton family—owners of the largest ranch in Montana. Rip (Hauser) and Beth (Reilly) quickly became a fan-favorite duo as they navigated constant reversals and emotional stakes.
When Yellowstone ended in 2024, the broader TV universe kept expanding. Alongside Luke Grimes’ CBS spinoff Marshals, Dutton Ranch follows Rip and Beth as well as Finn Little’s Carter as they adjust to life in Texas after their time in Montana.
Annette Bening and Ed Harris are also featured on the show. with newcomers including Jai Courtney. Natalie Alyn Lind. Marc Menchaca. Juan Pablo Raba and J. R. Villarreal. The series synopsis lays out the next chapter: “As Beth and Rip fight to build a future together — far from the ghosts of Yellowstone — they collide with brutal new realities and a ruthless rival ranch that will stop at nothing to protect its empire.” It adds that in South Texas. “blood runs deeper. ” “forgiveness is fleeting. ” and “the cost of survival might just be your soul.”.
Behind the scenes, Taylor Sheridan has been busy with other projects, including Landman, Mayor of Kingstown, Lioness and Tulsa King. In October 2025. news broke that Sheridan closed a major with NBCUniversal: a five-year overall deal for film. TV and streaming beginning January 1. 2029. after his TV deal with Paramount ends in 2028. Paramount will retain the rights to Yellowstone and the other franchises Sheridan created under his deal. meaning he is expected to create brand new IP for NBCUniversal. The move came after Paramount’s recent merger with Skydance.
