Domino’s customers who have a hard time deciding on toppings will soon be in luck, as the popular pizza chain is releasing its first-ever personal pizza in the United States at the end of August.

Called “the Domino,” the pizza is a rectangular Detroit-style pizza that’s cut into two slices and made with butter-flavored dough. The pizza will make its nationwide debut on Monday, Aug. 31, and customers who buy it can choose up to three toppings, Domino’s said in a news release.

“The Domino does what traditional pizza can’t,” the company wrote in an Aug. 11 news release. “Now everyone can enjoy their own pizza, with the toppings they want, without having to sacrifice when sharing a meal with friends and family.”

According to Domino’s, the menu price of a 1-topping personal pizza is $7.99, but it might vary due to franchisee pricing differences.

“You don’t have to compromise with anyone anymore on pizza night,” food influencer snachwithzach said in a video Domino’s shared on Instagram.

The new menu item’s release will come nearly a year after Domino’s announced a new logo and a new jingle from Grammy award-winning musician Shaboozey.

Domino’s said customers can also get the Domino through the company’s Mix and Match Deal. They can choose two or more menu items, including the Domino, for $6.99 each.

Here’s what we know about Domino’s new personal pizzas.

What’s the Domino made of?

The Domino consists of butter-flavored pan dough encrusted with Parmesan cheese, and it’s baked in a rectangular pan to form a Detroit-style crust. If the rectangular shape of the pizza sounds familiar, it’s probably because it is designed to look like the Domino’s logo.

The pizza has two layers of cheese, sauce that customers can choose according to their liking, and up to three toppings. Additionally, there’s a drizzle of Domino’s signature garlic seasoning, according to the company’s release.

Joe Jordan, chief operating officer and president of Domino’s U.S., who is also set to become the company’s CEO, said the Domino will allow the pizza chain to give customers something they’ve long missed out on.”When everyone wants something different, traditional pizza falls short,” Jordan said in the release. “The Domino lets every person build the exact pizza they want.”

The company claimed in its news release that during independent testing, consumers who tasted the Domino rated it as “one of the most delicious products Domino’s has ever introduced.”

Fans crack jokes, salivate over new menu item

When Domino’s shared its post about the new pizza, fans on social media cracked a few jokes.

“Whole time thought (that’s) what a medium pizza was for,” wrote one Instagram user.

One user even compared the pizza to a frozen food brand.

“Stouffer’s vibes,” wrote the user, adding laughing emojis.

Others joked that they’d need a reminder for Aug. 31, when the pizza drops.“Hey siri, place a reminder for august 31st,” the post reads.
