Die Another Day Returns to VOD Top 10 Again

Twenty-four years after its 2002 release, Pierce Brosnan’s weakest James Bond outing, Die Another Day, has climbed into the VOD top 10 on platforms including Prime Video and Apple TV—even as it still doesn’t have a streaming home in America right now.

Pierce Brosnan may have moved on to new roles, but for many viewers the pull of his James Bond era never lets go—especially when Die Another Day starts pulling people in all over again.

The 2002 film. Brosnan’s final turn as 007. has surged into the VOD top 10 on platforms such as Prime Video and Apple TV. It’s a return after years of debate about the movie itself. with many fans pointing to what they see as sloppy writing and poor visual effects—while still separating that from Brosnan’s performance.

Brosnan’s Bond run began with GoldenEye in 1995. He reprised the role in Tomorrow Never Dies a few years later and headlined The World Is Not Enough in the final year of the 1990s. He stepped away from the spy franchise for 2000 and 2001 before returning for the final time in Die Another Day. which was released on November 22. 2002. and runs 133 minutes.

For a while, the conversation around Brosnan has shifted to what he’s doing now. He’s gained renewed fame for his performance in the hit Paramount Plus crime thriller show MobLand. Over the last few weeks, the series has also found itself at the center of online chatter. Reports surfaced online that MobLand co-star Tom Hardy had been fired for not showing up on set on time and for feuding with producers—but that claim was debunked. The story that followed said Hardy had not been fired and that the team was mending bridges to ensure his return.

Brosnan has also teamed up with Dwayne Johnson for the 2022 superhero movie Black Adam, which is currently streaming on HBO Max.

“Die Another Day” isn’t just a title in the background of Bond history—it comes with an outlined mission. The official synopsis says: “After being betrayed and imprisoned in North Korea for fourteen months. James Bond escapes MI6 custody to hunt down the man who exposed him. His trail leads to a shadowy billionaire and a devastating orbital weapon capable of global destruction — and a mole hiding closer to home than Bond ever imagined.”.

The film was written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, and it was directed by Lee Tamahori. When it hit theaters, Die Another Day grossed $431 million at the box office against a $142 million budget. On Rotten Tomatoes, it earned 55% from critics and 41% from audiences.

Right now, the movie does not have a streaming home in America. But with Amazon owning the IP, it “could return to Prime Video soon,” especially now that it’s resurfaced in the VOD conversation.

The moment has a familiar rhythm for Brosnan fans: years after his final Bond appearance, the film’s reputation may be shaky—but its afterlife with viewers is anything but quiet.
