Democrats rack up early Senate fundraising hauls

Democrats running for the U.S. Senate are rolling in early money, at least by the standards of the first quarter.

Texas leads Democratic Senate fundraising with $27M

Beyond Texas, the list of large totals kept growing.
Georgia Sen.
Jon Ossoff raised more than $14 million in the first quarter, according to his campaign.
In North Carolina, former Gov.
Roy Cooper raised $13.8 million.
Alaska isn’t far behind: former Rep.
Mary Peltola brought in $8.9 million.
And in Ohio, former Sen.
Sherrod Brown raised $12.5 million in his comeback bid.

These hauls, several of which set records in their respective states, are being read inside the party as proof of momentum—something Democrats are leaning on as they try to flip the Senate.
Sure, the path still looks steep for them because the Senate map remains tilted in favor of red states.
But the political temperature, at least in Democratic circles, feels warmer.
President Donald Trump’s tanking approval ratings and the unpopularity of the ongoing war in Iran have Democrats feeling more bullish as they look toward the midterms.
Actually, it’s not just optimism in the abstract; it’s also money arriving early enough to turn persuasion into ads and organizing into field work.

Competitive primaries see smaller totals as donors split

The pattern is pretty telling, if you squint at it: when Democrats are aligned around a single nominee, fundraising seems to concentrate and spike.
When they’re split, it spreads out.
And then, once the primaries shake out, you can almost feel donors waiting to see who can unify the next wave—though how exactly that will translate into votes is the part nobody can count yet.
In other words, the cash is loud, but the Senate contest still has a lot of roads left to travel.
