Delta Firefighters Charity Ball raises focus keyphrase for Healthy Snacks

Delta’s third annual Mayor’s Charity Ball brought in nearly $743,000 to support the Healthy Snack Program for local students.
A night of community giving in Delta drew a clear result: nearly $743,000 was raised to help feed hungry kids in local schools.
The third annual Delta Firefighters Mayor’s Charity Ball took place Saturday, May 2, at the North Delta Recreation Centre, with proceeds supporting the Delta Firefighters Charitable Society’s Healthy Snack Program.. The program is designed to provide nutritious food to more than 3,000 students each day across Delta schools.
Organizers said the fundraiser was built around direct support for students and learning.. “This program is about showing up for kids in a very real way, making sure they have what they need to learn and succeed,” Misryoum reports treasurer Eric Wilson said, emphasizing what the community’s turnout represents.
Meanwhile, this year’s event also marked a step forward in how people could take part. Misryoum notes that moving from Cascades Casino Delta to a new venue helped open up participation and improved the overall guest experience.
One insight: Fundraising tied to everyday needs like school snacks often matters because it turns private support into consistent, day-to-day impact for children who rely on it.
According to Misryoum, the evening featured an elegant setup credited to Lux Affairs, along with a traditional Indigenous welcome and a ceremonial entrance by the Delta Firefighters Honour Guard.. Community leaders also used their remarks to underline the importance of ongoing investment in programs serving children and families.
Guests had multiple chances to support the cause, from the silent auction and raffles to a “Fund the Need” portion of the program. Misryoum reports the total raised came to $742,951.72.
Another insight: When events combine celebrations with structured giving moments, they can make it easier for residents to contribute in ways that fit different interests and budgets.
Misryoum also shared comments from Jamie McGarva, executive vice-president of the Delta Firefighters Holding Society, who described the level of support as a reminder that collective effort can translate into meaningful outcomes.
For those looking to help, Misryoum says the Delta Firefighters Charitable Society’s Healthy Snacks Program accepts donations through its event pages.
