Frontenacs GM Cooper searches for long-lasting prospects

And those who stayed the course on the ice of course stayed on longest in the stands in their Saturday finest. Slaves to logic, realists, would have discreetly been hitting the exits, inconsolable in their grief—accepting their once-in-a-life has been cruelly reduced by that irrecoverable one. Those who stuck around longest put in a full day—doors at Slush Puppie Place opened on Saturday at nine a.m. with the start of the second round, pick No. 21, and by four p.m., the process had reached the
15th and final round. Breaks were minimal but necessary for hydration, most the body water lost coming through sweat glands in the palms. In the second round, selections were made seven- or eight-minute intervals, when you allow for the draftees’ hugging fam and friends and teammates, their strolling down to the floor, their marching the length of room to the stage, their donning sweaters and posing with management. But for the very occasional no-show each teen had his procession and ceremony.
Frontenacs, GM Cooper, draft, Slush Puppie Place, prospects
So it was like a draft party at Slush Puppie Place? Sounds made up.
Wait, 15 rounds?? That seems insane, like how do they even know who’s good by then. Also “sweat glands in the palms”?? is that for real or did I miss a joke.
I think this is just the GM trying to find “long-lasting prospects” like… basically players who won’t quit after one bad season. Draft starts at 9 and ends at 4? Man I’d be done by lunch. And when it says doors opened at nine a.m. that means fans were waiting in line like an iPhone drop lol.
I’m confused, is this about hockey or like… a vending machine arena? Slush Puppie Place sounds like the rink concession booth not the draft. And “once-in-a-life reduced by that irrecoverable one” ??? Sounds like they’re talking about injuries or something but then it turns into hydration and hugging? idk
