Dak Prescott has been named the Pro Football Writers of America’s 2026 Good Guy Award winner, praised for his media dealings during the 2025 season and becoming the first Cowboys player to win the honor.

The PFWA has selected Prescott as the winner of the 2026 Good Guy Award. He was praised for his dealings with local and national media during the 2025 season. It also marks a first for the Cowboys franchise: Prescott is the 22nd player to win the award. and the first member of Dallas’ organization to take home the honor.
Prescott’s name was among the other finalists, including Browns guard Joel Bitonio and Bears safety Kevin Byard III. The Good Guy Award is handed out to an NFL player for qualities and professional style that help pro football writers do their jobs. The PFWA has presented the award annually since 2005.
For Prescott, this isn’t his first time landing in the discussion. He was a finalist for the Good Guy Award for the second time in the past three seasons. with previous finalist status coming in 2024 and 2026. The PFWA described him as one of the more accessible players in the league. especially at the quarterback position. noting that he fulfills his regular media obligations and then some.
That extra effort includes chats with local media in an off-the-record format, aimed at providing context. The Dallas PFWA chapter even went further than a one-time recognition: it named Prescott as the recipient of their local Good Guy award — the same chapter award recipient he won in 2017 and 2019 — and did so again starting with the 2025 presentation.
