The Dallas Cowboys’ offense just went through a team-building exercise recently. Led by quarterback Dak Prescott, Dallas’ skill position players got together and went on a retreat in Utah. There, the players bonded together both on and off the field, working on their game and their chemistry as a team.
After they completed their retreat, Prescott addressed his teammates in a short huddle. The Cowboys quarterback reiterated that what they did in their retreat shouldn’t just be a one-time thing or a memory that they’ll look back on fondly, but never do again. Prescott wants his team to continue building their camaraderie together once the season starts.
“Appreciate everybody just locking in, coming to get the work,” Prescott told his teammates in their final huddle. “Like, that’s what it’s about, man. Let’s just make sure we carry this s*** over, this vibe, this feeling, right? This camaraderie. Make sure this s*** carries over to training camp. And, like, when it carries over to training camp, it’s not just, oh, y’all remember that? Like, no, let’s get back together. Let’s keep hanging out, right? So, let’s just keep sticking together, man. Let’s keep pushing. We got a good team. We got a good f****** group right here.”
The Cowboys have one of the most potent lineups on offense. Prescott is an underappreciated yet reliable quarterback who leads the offense pretty well on the field. He’s supported by one of the best wide receiver duos in the league: CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens’ one-two combo gives opposing defenses plenty of headaches. They’re complemented by a rejuvenated Javonte Williams, who ran for over 1,200 yards last season, an underrated tight end in Jake Ferguson, and one of the most stable offensive lines in the league.
What really doomed the Cowboys last season was their putrid defense. They have made moves to fix that side of the ball, drafting safety Caleb Downs to complement their defense. Will that be enough to contend in a stacked NFC?
