Cowser’s four RBIs, Alonso homer rout Dodgers 12-1

Colton Cowser tied his career-high with four RBIs and Pete Alonso hit a three-run homer as the Baltimore Orioles beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 12-1 on Sunday, sweeping the series.

The scoreboard didn’t look real by the time the Orioles moved past the eighth inning. Colton Cowser was already driving runs, Pete Alonso was adding damage with one swing, and Baltimore kept pouring it on until Los Angeles fell behind 12-1.

Cowser tied his career-high with four RBIs and had three hits, including a home run, helping the Orioles take the series win over the Dodgers. It was the fifth time in four seasons he has driven in four runs in the majors.

Baltimore’s early burst set the tone. In the first inning, the Orioles loaded the bases before Samuel Basallo’s single through the gap to right and Cowser’s bloop to short left each drove in a run to make it 2-0. Taylor Ward followed with a solo homer in the second to push the lead to 3-1.

By the third, Cowser made it harder for the Dodgers to recover. He hit a solo shot to dead center for a 4-1 advantage, then added a two-run single with the bases loaded to extend the score to 6-1 off reliever Jack Dreyer after Emmet Sheehan had been pulled earlier in the fourth.

From there, the barrage didn’t stop. Alonso kept Baltimore’s momentum rolling with his 18th homer of the season, sending Jonathan Hernández’s sinker 398 feet to right in the seventh. Blaze Alexander then hit a two-run shot in the eighth.
