Choice Home Warranty also offers a generous appliance coverage cap, paying up to $3,000 per appliance. Select Home Warranty, which offers comparably priced plans, only pays $500 per appliance. American Home Shield pays $4,000 per appliance, which is considered double the industry average.
Generally, Choice Home Warranty is well reviewed among major sites. The Better Business Bureau gives it a B rating, noting that it has had more than 11,000 complaints in the last 3 years. Consumers appreciate the breadth of coverage that the Total Plan provides and ease of submitting a claim.

The company states that coverage officially starts 30 days after it receives your agreement fee, so you’ll want to make sure you don’t file any claims before then. You’ll need to request service as soon as you notice an issue with your system or appliance. The brand claims that it will contact a service provider within four hours of receipt, and then you can expect to hear from the contractor within 48 hours (though sometimes it takes longer).
