Cody Simpson has weighed in on Hollywood ex Miley Cyrus′ rebrand less than two weeks after she dropped her famous surname.
The Aussie singer, 29, confessed it’s been an age since he saw Cyrus, 33, whom he dated from October 2019 to August 2020, but he is supportive of her latest career move.

“I haven’t seen her in a long time,” he told The Hit Network’s Carrie & Tommy.
“It’s cool to see her do that and make such a big move, and to get back to what she’s doing. I like the new song and the new video.”
He was referring to Miley’s new single Bass Persuades, off her upcoming album of the same name, and the music video which amassed more than eight million views in under a week.
Though the pair split in 2020, it seems that’s all water under the bridge now for Simpson, who appears to be more than happy to cheer his ex on from afar.
He’s hoping to inspire some cheers himself on Friday at 10.35 am when he performs at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) for the NFL’s first game in Australia.
Simpson will be singing the Australian national anthem for a crowd of up to 100,000 fans and admitted he’s getting nervous.
“I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t. The MCG is a pretty daunting place when it’s full,” he said.
“I sang the national anthem to a sold-out AFL crowd at the Grand Final, so I’m going to do it the exact same way. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”
He also teased the possibility of a sneaky collaboration with The Jonas Brothers, who are slated to perform at half-time.
“Maybe! I haven’t seen them in years, but it’s unreal that they’re coming to do it,” he said.
“They’ve got a bigger job than I’ve got… I’ve just got to do one song.”
Simpson and Nick Jonas even share an ex – Miley.
Jonas dated the Hannah Montana star briefly in the mid-2000s when they were both child stars on the Disney Channel.
Miley and Simpson met in the 2010s and were friends for years before things took a turn for the romantic after Miley announced she and ex-husband Liam Hemsworth had separated.

They went public with their relationship in October 2019 and shared plenty of loved-up Instagram snaps before calling it quits less than a year later.
Simpson later said of their breakup: “It was a mutual decision between us knowing we were going in different directions.
“I had just started [swimming] training at that point, so my life was changing a lot and I knew I was going to have to move back to Australia, and she was going on tour.”
