Clark throws up at halftime, Fever still win

Caitlin Clark revealed she was sick during halftime of the Indiana Fever’s home win over the Atlanta Dream on Thursday night, after a stomach issue flared when she tried to eat apple sauce. The Fever, led by Clark and Kelsey Mitchell, improved to a 5-4 record.
Caitlin Clark was supposed to be thinking about basketball, not where to throw up—yet that’s exactly where she ended up during halftime of the Indiana Fever’s home win over the Atlanta Dream on Thursday night.
As the Fever kept moving on the court, Clark later described a stomach issue that hit her during the break. She said she tried to eat apple sauce. then immediately started coming back up. adding that “everything else also in my stomach came up.” She then found a trash can to deal with it—“thank God. ” she said.
“I tried to eat some apple sauce and then it just came up, and then everything else also in my stomach came up. … I found a trash can, thank God,” Clark said. She added that she’s “a little sick but will ‘be good’ going forward.”
It was Clark’s eighth game of the 2026 season as she continued her third year with Indiana. After an injury-riddled campaign in 2025, she has been making progress toward staying on the court more consistently to start 2026.
Despite the sickness, Clark persevered and delivered for the Fever in a matchup that also featured her taking on her rival, Angel Reese.
On the stat sheet, Clark produced a line of 17 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, and one block. Her shooting showed how hard she had to work through the night: she finished 6-of-17 from the field, including 2-of-8 from beyond the arc, and made 3-of-4 from the free-throw line.
The Fever had more answers in double figures. Kelsey Mitchell scored 25 points and added two steals. Aliyah Boston recorded 19 points and seven rebounds, while Sophie Cunningham contributed eight points and two rebounds.
Indiana’s win moved the Fever to a 5-4 record on the season, leaving them third in the Eastern Conference standings. They sit above the Toronto Tempo and the Washington Mystics, with the New York Liberty and the Atlanta Dream ahead of them.
Clark’s stomach issue didn’t end Indiana’s momentum, but it did put a human, uncomfortable moment right into the middle of the night’s performance. Now the focus turns to what comes next—because the Fever are back on the road.
Indiana will take on the New York Liberty with tip-off set for June 6 at 8 p.m. ET.
