When he finally checks the shelf again and again, the craving doesn’t fade—it just waits. For years, fans who wanted Cinnamon Bun Oreos in the U.S. have been stuck watching the flavor disappear, even as it stayed available in Canada.
Now Oreo is bringing the limited-edition cookies back. The company said the returning flavor—one of Oreo’s top 10 most-requested returns—will begin rolling out to retailers nationwide on July 6. It will be available for a limited time while supplies last.
The flavor is built around a familiar bakery idea: cinnamon-flavored chocolate wafers paired with cinnamon bun–flavored creme, designed to mimic the taste of the classic pastry.
Oreo’s comeback lands after the flavor was off U.S. shelves for about a decade, though it remained available in Canada. Some American fans, Oreo said, sought out imported packs online to keep the taste going.
The return also fits a larger push by the brand to revive fan-favorite varieties. Earlier this year. Oreo invited customers to vote on discontinued flavors they wanted to see come back as part of its “Oreoverse” campaign. Oreo has not said whether that effort directly influenced the Cinnamon Bun comeback.
When the cookies first debuted, fans compared them to cinnamon cereal and bakery-style rolls—comparisons that helped the flavor earn a devoted following before it was discontinued.
The calendar for Oreo’s summer releases is already crowded. Cinnamon Bun joins the brand’s limited-time lineup that includes Firecracker Pop cookies. which feature popping candy and red. white and blue creme ahead of Independence Day. More recently, Oreo partnered with BTS on a hotteok-inspired Brown Sugar Pancake Oreo.
The BTS collaboration includes cookies designed by RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook. Oreo said the release also includes 13 unique embossments celebrating the group’s anniversary and fanbase.
For U.S. shoppers waiting on Cinnamon Bun, the message is simple and time-bound: it starts July 6, it lasts as long as supplies do, and it returns with the exact flavor profile fans once tracked down—either by memory or, in some cases, by importing it from Canada.
