Cincinnati Reds ace Andrew Abbott proposes to Lindsay Stone

When the Reds finished a win over the Philadelphia Phillies, Andrew Abbott’s season still had plenty of noise around it. Then, this week, he quietly shifted the spotlight—off the mound and into his personal life.
The Cincinnati Reds All-Star announced his engagement to his longtime girlfriend. Cincinnati reporter and local television news anchor Lindsay Stone. sharing the news on Instagram on Friday. In photos posted to the platform. Abbott is seen clutching the ring box while Stone beams beside him. her excitement impossible to miss.
The proposal took place on the rooftop of the Lytle Park Hotel in downtown Cincinnati. The city skyline—and the Reds stadium in the background—framed the moment. Red rose petals were scattered across the setting. and giant block letter signs spelling out “Marry Me” added a flourish that turned the scene into something straight out of a planned production.
Abbott knelt down on the rooftop in front of Stone as they embraced, and Stone flashed the ring to the camera.
The pair are believed to have been together since mid-2024. and they went public with their romance in 2025 on the All-Star Game red carpet. Stone has been a TV News anchor for local Cincinnati station WLWT for three years. She grew up about 30 miles outside the city and returned home when she joined WLWT.
Before her Cincinnati role, Stone started her journalism career as a sports reporter and anchor at WNDU in South Bend, Indiana, where she covered Notre Dame Football.
Not every part of the story is rooted in the proposal, though. Stone announced earlier this month that her time at WLWT in Cincinnati would be coming to an end. On Facebook. she wrote: “Working in my hometown has been a dream I never took for granted. and I’m so thankful for every person who trusted me to tell their stories along the way. For this Cincy girl. it truly doesn’t get more special than that.” She added: “Though I’m stepping into a new season filled with exciting opportunities and new adventures. this community will always hold a special place in my heart.” At this stage. it remains unclear what comes next for her.
Back on the baseball side, Abbott’s year has carried its own curveballs. The Reds Opening Day starting pitcher has endured a tough start to the season. posting a 6.59 ERA through his first six starts. But the rebound has been sharp: in his past five starts, he has pitched to a 1.29 ERA with 19 strikeouts.
The timeline feels like a study in contrasts—struggling early on the mound, then finding momentum, while also marking a new chapter in his life with Stone in the city that has long been close to her story.

Aww good for them I guess. Cincinnati skyline always looks cool.
Wait so she’s leaving WLWT but they’re engaged?? Like did she announce that before or after the proposal? Also the whole ‘Marry Me’ thing sounds kinda extra but I love it.
Not to be that guy but I read this as like he proposed DURING the Phillies game or something? Timeline is confusing. And 6.59 ERA?? dude needs to focus on pitching too lol. Unless the engagement fixes his luck, idk.
Lindsay Stone is one of those anchors that always seems sweet, so happy for her. But I saw her Facebook post about leaving and my brain was like “oh no she got fired” even though it probably wasn’t that. Also the rooftop hotel proposal with roses and the stadium in the back is like totally planned, like PR-level planned 😂 congrats though
