The Black Crowes were performing as part of their “Southern Hospitality Tour” when the crowd began chanting “U-S-A.” The tension came amid a moment during the show when. according to a source. a visual thrown on a screen reportedly showed the band’s Black Crowe character dressed as Uncle Sam.
Before the band started playing “She Talks to Angels,” the chanting reportedly picked up. Chris Robinson stepped in to address the crowd, telling them, “Thanks for the geography lesson.”
But the crowd kept going. Chris added, “I don’t know what you have to be so proud of right now.”
As the back-and-forth intensified, fans grew so angry they began booing and leaving the venue altogether.
The confrontation is captured in a video obtained by TMZ. In it, Chris Robinson can be heard saying to the audience members who were booing, “For those of you f****** booing us, some of us are not afraid. And we most assuredly are not f****** ignorant.”
By the time the clip ends, the energy in the room had clearly shifted—from a loud crowd moment to a painful rupture between the band and the people chanting along.
