Joe Jonas Opens Up on Tough Single Dad Days

On his podcast Hey Jonas, Joe Jonas spoke candidly about raising daughters Willa, 5, and Delphine, 3, as a single dad and co-parenting with Sophie Turner, calling co-parenting “balanced” even through the toughest moments.

Joe Jonas didn’t just talk about parenthood on Tuesday—he got honest about the hard parts, too.

During a new episode of the Jonas Brothers’ podcast Hey Jonas, the DNCE frontman answered a caller’s question about “the most healing part of being a parent.” His answer landed in the reality of everyday life: “I’m a single dad and I co-parent with my children’s mother.”

He described how his daughters—Willa, 5, and Delphine, 3—have brought him back to himself. “I think my children have given me, like, purpose again in my life.”

Joe also acknowledged that there’s tenderness in the routine, especially when work and shared time have to coexist. He said that being able to focus on his career when he’s away from them. then returning to his “shared time. ” makes the work feel different. “Knowing that I get to work hard if I’m not with them and go back to my shared time where I get to be with them. it makes it so much better to work that much harder.”.

But he didn’t frame it as just motivation. He turned emotional about what his kids mean to him when life gets heavy. “They’ve really given me the reason to be alive, I would say. In my saddest moments. I’m able to be reminded quickly that a hug from them can solve the world’s problems. in my own world.”.

And then came a point that sounded like it was meant for other parents living through similar days. “And I know I’m not hyper unique. There’s a lot of people in my situation that are single parents and go through this, and I’m grateful that I have a co-parent that I can balance even the bad days.”

The conversation came against the backdrop of Joe and Sophie Turner’s earlier split in 2023, when they were locked in a bitter custody battle. Their custody terms were eventually agreed on, and Joe’s comments suggest things have felt smoother since.

He also made room for the people who helped him adjust. “Being able to have good people around me to kind of help me navigate it is really special,” Joe said. “And I think they’ve taught me that I’ll be okay even in my toughest days.”

Throughout the episode, the Jonas Brothers’ dynamic was part of the moment—Kevin was seen looking visibly moved as Joe spoke.

  1. Wait so custody is over and now it’s all “balanced”?? I feel like there was a whole custody battle for nothing then. Also 5 and 3?? that’s gotta be exhausting

  2. I saw “hug solves the world’s problems” and I was like okay but doesn’t that sound kinda scripted coming from a celebrity. Also he said he’s a single dad but it’s co-parenting so like… not really single, right?

  3. This is nice but I still don’t trust “smooth since” after 2023. Like people say they’re balanced then there’s still paperwork. And Kevin looking moved?? I mean he’s probably just acting supportive. Either way I guess co-parenting works better when both parties aren’t fighting on social media, so good for them I guess.
