Chase Sapphire Reserve lets travelers stack up to $500

stack Sapphire – Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders can stack two separate prepaid-hotel credits on qualifying stays—potentially knocking up to $500 off a single reservation, if the property is eligible for both benefits and booked through Chase Travel.
You book a luxury hotel and expect the usual perks. With the Chase Sapphire Reserve, the surprise is more basic—and bigger: two separate prepaid-stay credits can be applied to the same reservation, reaching up to $500 off.
The catch is timing and eligibility. One credit runs automatically through The Edit by Chase Travel℠, and the other is a one-time benefit tied to select hotel brands for 2026. If you get both onto the same booking—minimum two prepaid nights—the savings can stack.
Under the Sapphire Reserve’s ongoing hotel-credit perk, cardholders can receive up to $500 per calendar year through The Edit. It comes as two separate up to $250 statement credits each calendar year for stays of at least two nights. Each $250 credit has to be used on a separate booking. but either can be combined with a separate select-hotel credit described below.
When you book through The Edit. the card also comes with multiple on-stay benefits. including daily breakfast for two. a $100 property credit per booking. a welcome amenity subject to availability. complimentary Wi‑Fi at properties that offer Wi‑Fi. a room upgrade at check-in when available. and early check-in and late checkout when available.
There’s also a clear rider on how the second credit works for 2026. The Sapphire Reserve introduced a one-time up to $250 statement credit for eligible prepaid hotel stays of at least two nights booked through Chase Travel, with availability through Dec. 31.
The eligible brands for that one-time select credit are: IHG Hotels & Resorts, Montage Hotels & Resorts, Pendry Hotels & Resorts, Omni Hotels & Resorts, Virgin Hotels, Minor Hotels, and Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts.
If you’re leaning toward IHG specifically. the Sapphire Reserve also includes automatic IHG One Rewards Platinum elite status through Dec. 31, 2027. That status offers early check-in and late checkout when available. complimentary room upgrades when available. a 60% points bonus on stays. and a price match.
The IHG price match comes with specific rules. Prices may be higher in the Chase Travel portal than if you book directly. But if your account is eligible and you book a stay through Chase Travel and then find a lower rate greater than $5 elsewhere. you can submit a claim within 24 hours of booking to have the lower price matched. Hotel details have to be the same, meaning you can’t price match a refundable rate with a nonrefundable rate.
The stacking guidance starts the same way: once you log into Chase Travel, search for hotels covered by both credits. For example, the workflow for a stay in New York City is to begin in the Chase Travel portal, then filter to a brand eligible for the one-time $250 credit.
In that example, choosing IHG helps because of its footprint. The point is practical—look for properties bookable through The Edit that also include an extra note stating they’re “Eligible for $250 select hotel credit & IHG One Rewards.”
It’s also important to know when the money shows up. These credits won’t apply at the time of booking; they’re applied to your statement after your stay. It may take up to eight weeks for both statement credits to post.
Credit card editors have been testing the approach. Giselle Gomez, managing editor of credit cards, recently stacked her statement credits for a stay at the Kimpton St Honoré Paris. Her credits posted to her account almost immediately after booking.
At the hotel, the perks aligned with what The Edit promises: she received a room upgrade, free breakfast for two that otherwise would have cost 84 euros a day, a complimentary bottle of wine upon check-in, and a $100 property credit that she used toward room service and drinks with her husband.
For travelers hunting inspiration, the list of properties where the Sapphire Reserve’s Edit credits can be stacked includes five options in the U.S. and abroad.
In South Carolina, there’s Montage Palmetto Bluff—located between South Carolina’s Hilton Head Island and Savannah, Georgia—surrounded by areas that include a golf course, three outdoor pools, and a full spa.
In California, Pendry San Diego stands out for blending modern luxury with classic California. It’s two blocks from Petco Park, making it a solid choice for visitors looking for a stay in the city.
In Germany, Kimpton Main Frankfurt opened in 2025 and is positioned as a place to stay while exploring Frankfurt. It’s described as featuring colorful rooms and a central location.
In Japan, Six Senses Kyoto opened in 2024 and is described as putting relaxation first, as the brand’s first Japan property. The stay could include visits to the luxurious spa or a seasonal restaurant.
And in New Zealand, InterContinental Auckland offers floor-to-ceiling views of the harbor or the city in every room. It’s described as walkable from the ferry terminal and downtown dining.
Before you book, the limitations are straightforward but non-negotiable. You’ll need to stay at least two nights to trigger either credit, but you don’t have to book four nights to stack them—both credits can be stacked on a single two-night stay.
If you’re trying to earn Chase Ultimate Rewards points, remember you won’t earn points on the portion of your stay covered by either credit. You will still earn 8 points per dollar on any spend above the credits.
Finally, the prepaid requirement is specific: the hotel stay must be prepaid through the “Pay Now” option through Chase Travel to receive either credit.
All of it adds up to a simple path to the headline savings. Stacking the Sapphire Reserve’s The Edit credit with the 2026 select hotel credit is framed as one of the most straightforward ways to get up to $500 off a single stay—find a property in The Edit that’s also part of an eligible brand. book two prepaid nights through Chase Travel. and both credits will apply to the same reservation.
Just don’t expect immediate confirmation on the statement. It may take up to eight weeks for the credits to show up, and the select hotel credit expires Dec. 31. If one of the eligible-brand stays is already on your radar, that deadline is doing the heavy lifting.
Separately, there’s also a limited-time offer for Chase Sapphire Reserve: earn 150,000 bonus points after spending $6,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening. The offer ends June 15 at 9 a.m. ET.

So like… $500 off if you’re “eligible”??
I saw this and thought it was instant savings but it’s all timing and whether the hotel participates. I tried one of those Chase Travel things before and it was such a pain. Also what does “select hotel brands” even mean anymore.
Wait reply to who? lol. If you can stack two prepaid credits on the same reservation for 2026, then why would anyone not do it. But the “minimum two prepaid nights” part sounds like you’re forced to lock in plans. I feel like they’ll count it as prepaid but still make you cancel and lose the credit.
This is one of those perks that sounds good until you realize you have to book through Chase Travel and the hotel has to be in their little system. “Up to $500” is doing a lot of work there. I’m sure the fine print will exclude half the hotels I’d actually want to stay at, like always.
