Charges filed against John G. Lang after LaBagh Woods assault

A Cook County judge ordered John G. Lang, 45, detained until trial after he was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting and strangling a 29-year-old woman in LaBagh Woods on May 23.
For nearly 500 feet from the LaBagh Woods parking lot, a woman was attacked in a heavily wooded, off-trail stretch on Chicago’s Northwest Side.
The assault happened around 12:30 p.m. on May 23 on the eastern side of LaBagh Woods, according to forest preserves police. The victim, a 29-year-old woman, was taken to Swedish Hospital and has since been released, police said.
Last week, detectives with the Forest Preserves of Cook County Police arrested John G. Lang, 45, for the attack. He was charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault and aggravated battery with strangulation.
On Saturday, a Cook County judge ordered Lang detained until trial. Police said he had no home address on file.
Adam Bianchi, superintendent of the forest preserve, called the case shocking in a statement, adding that it was even more so because of the relative rarity of such attacks in the Forest Preserves.
Lang now faces a case that began in a secluded pocket of trees and is moving into the legal system with his detention set until trial.

How does someone even get out there off trail like that…
Detained until trial is at least something. But “no home address on file” always makes me think they could’ve found him sooner? Also LaBagh Woods seems so random for this.
Wait, he was arrested and charged, but they’re saying he had no home address on file like that means anything? I saw another post that said it was “nearly 500 feet from the parking lot” so like… why were they even that close to the cars if it’s on the trail? Idk. Shocking either way, but the details are confusing.
Aggravated battery with strangulation… like wow. I can’t tell if this is one of those cases where they let him go before because of paperwork or something. Judge ordered detention so hopefully that sticks. Swedish Hospital released her already? That part always makes it sound like it wasn’t too serious, but I know that’s not how it works.
