Chad Johnson insists Giannis trade to Heat is real

Chad Johnson, speaking on “Nightcap” with Shannon Sharpe, is doubling down on his claim that Giannis Antetokounmpo is headed to the Miami Heat—pushing back hard on speculation that the Boston Celtics could make a late push.

Miami is locked into the conversation again, and this time Chad Johnson is trying to shut down one side of the debate.

As rumors swirl around the Miami Heat and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Johnson says the league is closer to an answer than it appears. He points to the Heat being labeled as a finalist for Antetokounmpo. while acknowledging that the Boston Celtics have been viewed as having a real shot for the superstar. Johnson’s reaction is blunt: he believes that entire Celtics narrative is just noise.

Speaking on his and Shannon Sharpe’s show, “Nightcap,” Johnson said he has repeatedly told viewers, over “the months,” that his sources believe Antetokounmpo is going to Miami. When the speculation around Boston has grown louder, Johnson says he’s choosing not to waver.

“As y’all know, I’ve said it multiple times over the months. The sources that I do have, they know what they’re talking about,” Johnson said. “Which is why I’ve came on here and say things that I’ve said. All the other stuff, with Boston, and him going anywhere, none of that is going to happen. That’s just created dialogue to keep people guessing on where he might go.”.

In other words, Johnson isn’t just repeating a prediction. He’s responding to the growing counter-story—suggesting that Celtics buzz is being used to keep the market unsettled, not because it reflects a real shift.

The timing of Johnson’s insistence matters because the rumor mill is already pointing toward a resolution. With Miami positioned as a finalist and Boston framed as the most credible alternative, Johnson’s message lands as a direct challenge to the idea that the Celtics still have the swing factor.

Johnson has continued to back his claim publicly, using social media as well, including a post dated June 22, 2026 tied to the Heat rumor conversation.

For now. the basketball world is left with the same two tracks running at once: Miami’s elevated finalist status on one side. and Boston’s perceived opportunity on the other. Johnson’s part in the story is clear—he believes the outcome is already decided. and that the Celtics talk is meant to stretch suspense. not change the destination.

More information is expected as the rumors continue around the Miami Heat and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

  1. Chad Johnson said it so it has to be true right? I don’t really trust Celtics stuff anyway. If Giannis goes to Miami I’m gonna be annoyed but also like… what’s the point of Boston then.

  2. I’m confused cuz I heard the Celtics were about to make some big late move last week. But this guy is like “none of that is going to happen” so which one is it, was it just talk to mess with people? Also why is Chad Johnson involved like he’s an insider, he played football not hoops.

  3. This reads like the Celtics narrative is just noise which is kinda funny because everyone was “noise” about Miami too. I swear rumors always say “locked into conversation” and then it’s like a totally different team. If Giannis really is headed to the Heat, then why are they still calling Boston a credible alternative? Seems like both sides are being baited until June 22 or whatever.
