When Paul Flack was found unresponsive at his home in England, the day turned into a search for answers that came too late to change the outcome. He was 55.
Paul Flack was discovered on June 21 and was taken to the hospital before being pronounced dead, with his death believed to be suicide following a provisional post-mortem exam. He is survived by his partner and two children.
The questions now move through the court system. A hearing into Paul Flack’s death was opened on Monday, June 29, at Norfolk Coroner’s Court, and another hearing has been scheduled for October 23.
His death lands six years after his sister Caroline Flack died by suicide in 2020 at age 40. Caroline Flack, who first made her name as an actress in the U.K. before moving into presenting, went on to win season 12 of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing. She later hosted The Xtra Factor and Love Island UK.
Caroline’s life outside the spotlight drew headlines too. In 2009, she began dating Prince Harry, and in 2021 she dated Harry Styles. She was also linked to Jack Street, Andrew Brady and Danny Cipriani before finding love with Lewis Burton.
In 2019, Caroline was arrested over allegations that she assaulted Burton. She pleaded not guilty and was released on bail with a condition that she not contact Burton. Despite both Caroline and Burton denying the allegations, Caroline was set to stand trial. She later stepped down as host of Love Island UK as the case progressed. She died by suicide in 2020 after learning the case would go to trial.
Caroline’s family later shared an unpublished Instagram message from her shared the day of her death. In the message. published by the New York Times. Caroline “took responsibility for what happened” the night she was arrested and insisted she “was NOT a domestic abuser.” The post added: “I’ve already said all I can say on the tragedy and don’t want words to be misconstrued and need to look after my own mental health. This was the last correspondence I ever had with her. I really did hope she was somewhere lovely,” it read. “I never knew the extent of her struggles or what was to be come. The last message from her to me were love hearts. I’d like to think wherever she is now, she’s at peace and somewhere lovely like I hoped.”.
Paul’s death now places new weight on those already raw questions—how grief transfers, how public pressure can follow people home, and how quickly a life can vanish before justice and closure even begin.
