Carmen Electra looked back at her path into the Scary Movie franchise during the Scary Movie 6 premiere on Wednesday, June 3, crediting director Keenen Ivory Wayans with fighting for her when others weren’t sure she could land the original 2000 role.
Carmen Electra didn’t just show up for the premiere of Scary Movie 6 on Wednesday, June 3—she used the moment to revisit how a single role helped redirect her career.
The Baywatch star reflected on her history with the beloved comedy franchise, explaining that Keenen Ivory Wayans was a key reason she landed a part in the original 2000 film. Electra appeared in Scary Movie and later returned for Scary Movie 4, before making a cameo in the new installment.
She also praised the Wayans family’s long influence on the series. “I was in the first Scary Movie and [Scary Movie 4]. and I think we all could feel the difference without the Wayans not being involved in the fourth one. ” Carmen. 54. told People. “So it’s just so cool and it gets no better than working with the Wayans. It’s always fun. It’s a good time.”.
Electra said she was determined to be part of the first movie. “There’s so many movies and so many different genres. and I knew I wanted to be a part of Scary Movie 1. I really wanted it. but I think that back then. they weren’t sure that … I know Keenen really wanted me in the movie. but no one else was sure I could do it. And so they had other people come in and shoot for it,” she recalled.
What made the difference, she said, was Keenen’s insistence. “He goes, ‘No.’ He fought for me. So I love you, Keenen, forever, for pulling for me and changing my career, because being in Scary Movie really did.”
Her return to the franchise—first in Scary Movie. then Scary Movie 4. and now a cameo in Scary Movie 6—marks how that early fight over casting turned into something longer-lasting than a single screen credit. One moment of insistence from Keenen Wayans, Electra says, became a turning point she still credits today.

I don’t get why people keep saying “Scary Movie 6” like it’s a big deal, I thought it was already a flop or something. But if Keenen really fought for her then ok I guess. People magazine also says a bunch of stuff that might be exaggerated, idk.
So they had other people “shoot for it”?? That sounds like half the Hollywood casting pipeline. Keenen Wayans really just said no and changed everything… meanwhile half the actors I know can’t even get a role unless they’re already famous. Carmen still did her thing though.
