Carli Lloyd dazzles on World Cup pregame while expecting

USWNT legend Carli Lloyd turned heads on FOX’s 2026 World Cup pregame show on Friday, flaunting her growing baby bump as the U.S. prepared for its opening match against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

When Carli Lloyd stepped into FOX’s 2026 World Cup pregame show on Friday, the focus wasn’t just on the tournament returning to U.S. soil after decades. She also made a personal announcement visible—an expectant glow in a patriotic red-and-blue striped dress as she talked World Cup significance.

Lloyd, 43, showcased her growing baby bump during the broadcast, ahead of the U.S. men’s national team’s opening match against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. It was a rare blend of the public and the private: the kind of moment that looks effortless on television. but carries the weight of major change off-screen.

She first shared the news that she’s expecting her second child with husband Brian Hollins back in April. The couple tied the knot in November 2016 and welcomed their first child, daughter Harper, in October 2024.

On Instagram. Lloyd captioned a slideshow of photos with one clear message: “Our family is growing. and we couldn’t be more grateful!” The post included a photo of Harper in a big sister sweater. Lloyd added: “We’re soaking in every bit of gratitude. love. and excitement as we prepare to welcome another little miracle into our lives. Being blessed with another baby still feels hard to believe, and our hearts are so full.”.

Lloyd said she’s due in September, but framed the timing as “business as usual” for now. On the broadcast, she also reflected on what it means for the World Cup to return to the United States for the first time since 1994.

“I was 12 years old,” Lloyd recalled, describing the tournament’s pull from the perspective of a young fan. She said the 1994 FIFA World Cup was the biggest tournament she watched before the 1999 Women’s World Cup team made an even deeper impression.

“(The 1994 FIFA World Cup) was probably the biggest tournament that I watched when I was younger before the ’99 World Cup team. And these guys were my inspiration and I looked up to them and it inspired me,” Lloyd added. She then connected that inspiration to the momentum of later championships.

“And now to watch the 1999 Women’s World Cup team win on home soil and then to be able to inspire so many other generations of people. … I’m just thinking about the impact of how I am part of that. and it’s pretty cool and I haven’t reflected on it a lot. but this is what World Cups do. They change the lives of so many people.”.

There was no shift in tone when she described her own place in that legacy—just the same confidence that built her career, now paired with the quiet reality of family planning and new beginnings.

Lloyd’s tournament history and awards have long placed her among the sport’s defining figures. She won the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup alongside the USWNT and was named the FIFA Player of the Year in 2015 and 2016. She also scored game-winning goals to secure gold at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. At the Tokyo Games in 2021, she won bronze with Team USA.

On Friday, she returned to the stage with the World Cup’s biggest spotlight trained on the U.S. kickoff at SoFi Stadium—and a very personal new chapter already underway in the background. The broadcast held both truths at once: the tournament’s power to reshape lives. and the way life reshapes you even while you’re still in the middle of doing your job.

  1. FOX really be putting the whole pregnancy storyline on TV now. She looks great but I’m just here for the World Cup talk, not baby bumps.

  2. I thought the men’s team was playing Paraguay, not the USWNT… so are they mixing it up? Also she said due in September but “business as usual” like she’s working the broadcast schedule through it lol.

  3. Congrats to her but the article makes it sound like the World Cup is coming back to the US after only like 10 years or something? Like I swear there was World Cup stuff here before. Anyway, SoFi is huge, so if she’s doing pregame for FOX and also having another kid, that’s a lot. Hope her husband Brian’s taking care of everything while she’s on TV.
