Caglianone’s 2 homers echo Schwarber’s rare bat feat

Caglianone 2 – Jac Caglianone hit two home runs in the Royals’ series finale loss to the St. Louis Cardinals, doing it with 82+ mph bat speeds in both swings—a rare mark that puts him in the same elite group as Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber.

Jac Caglianone’s Saturday didn’t end the way the Kansas City Royals wanted, but it delivered a performance that will be talked about for a long time.

In the series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. Missouri. the Kansas City Royals first baseman went 2-for-3 with two walks and two home runs. driving in three runs—yet the Cardinals still won 12-10. The swing damage, though, was loud enough to carry past the final score.

Both of Caglianone’s homers came with serious bat speed. One left the bat at 83.1 mph, and the other was clocked at 82.6 mph, according to Sarah Langs of MLB.com. Under bat tracking (2023). Langs shared via a social media post on X—formerly Twitter—that it was the 8th time a player had recorded two home runs with 82+ mph bat speeds in a single game.

The list of players who have accomplished that same feat is tight. Apart from Caglianone and Kyle Schwarber of the Philadelphia Phillies. the group includes Nick Kurtz of the Athletics. Junior Caminero of the Tampa Bay Rays. Jo Adell of the Los Angeles Angels. and Oneil Cruz of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Caglianone’s first homer came in the second inning—a two-run shot that went 444 feet and pulled Kansas City within two runs, 9-7. He struck again in the bottom of the ninth with a solo homer that traveled 426 feet, making it 12-9 with the Cardinals still holding the lead.

That late burst wasn’t enough to complete the sweep. The loss denied the Royals a clean series win over St. Louis and snapped Kansas City’s three-game winning streak.

The day also carried another reminder of Schwarber’s recent power. Schwarber had a multi-home run game just recently, recording three homers in the Phillies’ 15-3 demolition of the New York Mets on Saturday.

  1. So they lost 12-10 but he hit TWO homers like that’s supposed to be the headline? Cardinals always seem to have some crazy bullpen luck. Also 444 feet sounds fake unless the wind was insane.

  2. Wait, is Caglianone on the Phillies now or am I mixing him up with Schwarber stuff from the internet? People keep posting about bat speeds like it’s driving a car. Either way 12-10 means defense was trash right?

  3. Kauffman Stadium and 444 feet… that’s like wow. But why did the Royals give up so many runs if he’s hitting bombs?? sounds like pitching is the real problem, not the bat tracking. And MLB.com posts on X are always kinda confusing too, I can’t tell what’s official half the time.
