CAE, based in St-Laurent, Quebec, reported fiscal fourth-quarter earnings of $53.3 million. On a per-share basis, the company said it earned 17 cents. When earnings were adjusted for non-recurring costs, CAE reported 31 cents per share.

The company’s results beat Wall Street expectations. Analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research averaged an estimate of 30 cents per share for the quarter.

CAE also reported quarterly revenue of $967.2 million. That figure landed above Street forecasts as well. Eleven analysts surveyed by Zacks were expecting revenue of $942.8 million.

For the year, CAE posted profit of $226.6 million, or 70 cents per share. Revenue for the year was reported at $3.56 billion.

With quarterly profit and revenue both coming in above expectations. the immediate question for investors is how the stronger numbers will land against the stock’s year-to-date decline. The financial results offer one kind of signal; the market’s longer pullback since the start of the year is another.
