Buttigieg’s home visited after false CPS report about kids

false CPS – U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg says a hoax false report led to police and Child Protective Services showing up at his Michigan home to investigate allegations involving his 4-year-old twins. The Michigan State Police said the report was determine
When a police officer and a Child Protective Services worker arrived at Pete Buttigieg’s Michigan doorstep this week, the moment didn’t just disrupt the schedule of an office-holder in public view—it upended a family’s sense of safety.
Buttigieg, the U.S. transportation secretary and a Democratic presidential candidate. said the investigation began after an anonymous caller told Michigan Children’s Protective Services that his 4-year-old twins were in danger. In a June 26 Substack post. Buttigieg said the allegation was “an absurd and easily refuted” claim of “a horrific crime. ” and that someone was “abusing the system” to harm him and his family.
He described the 24-hour stretch after the visit as some of the worst of his life. “The twenty-four hours until they returned are among the darkest hours of my life,” Buttigieg wrote. He said the officer and CPS worker did not share the specific details of the accusation until the children underwent private forensic interviews scheduled for the following day. “This is the ugliest thing that has happened to me since my career in service began,” he wrote.
After the interviews, Buttigieg and his husband, Chasten Buttigieg, learned what the anonymous allegation claimed. The caller. according to Buttigieg. said the story came from a woman who met Buttigieg at a conference in Alabama several years ago. The caller said that woman claimed Buttigieg confessed to “unspeakable violent crimes.”.
Buttigieg said he told the police officer that he had never been to the Alabama town where the woman was said to have met him. He wrote that the officer later made clear they believed the case was politically motivated and would not be referred to a prosecutor.
Buttigieg also said the forensic interviews did not produce any basis for concern. “Nothing in the forensic interview with the children, which was conducted by trained personnel, had led to concerns,” he wrote.
The Michigan State Police later issued a statement about the incident, saying it had received an anonymous report this week. “The Michigan State Police and Child Protective Services responded and determined the report was false,” the agency said. The statement added that “false reports are dangerous” because they divert law enforcement officers and Child Protective Services workers away from legitimate emergencies and from protecting vulnerable children and families.
Buttigieg placed the CPS allegation against a wider backdrop of rising anxiety about political harassment. He pointed to heightened concerns of political violence in recent months. including that a slew of Indiana lawmakers were targeted with “swatting” ahead of a vote on congressional redistricting.
Even with the allegation declared unsubstantiated, Buttigieg said the family remains shaken. “Even though the accusation was absurdly and obviously false. and was promptly rejected by law enforcement. I still worry about the harm it has done. ” he wrote. He added: “Whatever you think about someone in politics, you leave people’s kids out of it.”.

Anonymous calls are out of control.
So basically somebody wasted CPS resources on him. But like… if they had even a tiny reason to show up then isn’t that still “procedure”? Idk why people think hoax calls are funny.
Wait I thought it was an Alabama incident? Like the article says a woman met him at a conference and then the story was from her, but then it’s “false CPS report.” Sounds like a whole game of telephone. Also why would they not tell details immediately? seems weird to me.
This is why I don’t trust CPS at all, they show up and traumatize kids over hearsay. And now it’s Pete Buttigieg, so of course it’s all over the news and everyone believes him right away. I’m not saying he’s lying, but “absurd and easily refuted” doesn’t mean it wasn’t messed up in the moment. Anonymous callers should get in trouble, but knowing this country they won’t.
