Bus fire after crash in Turkey kills eight, infant

bus crashes – A bus operated by Pamukkale Tourism crashed into highway barriers in Denizli province at 1:40 a.m., caught fire, and killed eight people, including a 9-month-old baby boy, while 33 others were injured.

When the bus went off the road in western Turkey in the early hours of Sunday, it didn’t just crash—it burned.

The wreck happened in Denizli province at 1:40 a.m. local time, where the bus struck highway barriers and caught fire. Eight people died, including a 9-month-old baby boy, according to local media reports.

The bus belonged to Pamukkale Tourism and was carrying 38 passengers and three staff members as it traveled from Izmir to Antalya. Investigators said 33 people were injured.

Among the dead were the 50-year-old driver and the father of the infant boy.

Images from the aftermath showed the bus’s burned-out frame by the roadside, a stark reminder of how quickly an accident can turn deadly.

The timing came at the end of Eid al-Adha, which typically brings a surge in traffic accidents across Turkey as families travel to visit relatives and go on vacations.

  1. Eid al-Adha always seems like chaos on the roads. Like you can feel it coming and then somebody’s always screaming about another crash. 33 injured is crazy too, I hope they’re all ok.

  2. Wait so the bus belonged to Pamukkale Tourism and it crashed into the barriers… doesn’t that mean it was probably going too fast or something? I read somewhere that barriers make it worse if they’re like metal or whatever. Still sad but I’m just saying

  3. This is why I’m scared of buses, like one second you’re fine and then it’s just fire. 1:40 a.m. too?? people are half asleep and can’t get out. I saw the word “burned-out frame” and I can’t stop thinking about the infant. Also “end of Eid” like traffic surge means they were packed maybe? I’m sure they’ll blame something but it always feels random.
